F&W event prices are ridiculous!

Agreed !

But sadly enough people pay it so they're going to keep charging it.

Supply and Demand. They control the supply, and there's plenty of demand, prices will continue to rise because people pay it. Objectively, this means they're not too high or ridiculous, they're what the market is bearing. Sure, we're not altogether thrilled with rising prices, but you can't blame a business for getting what people will pay.

Matt

As others mentioned Supply and Demand. After attending a variation of many of the events, Party for the Senses, specialty lunches/dinners at the parks and the resorts etc, the only one still worth it to me is not even at Disney anymore its the one at the Swan and Dolphin the last weekend in October. Even that one is getting too pricey for me though and sadly this will probably be the last year we pay for that. Guess that leaves more money for the different booths.

I feel like the executives throw outlandish prices at the wall and laugh that people are willing to pay them. The holiday party prices are outrageous, but if I were Disney I would be charging what I could get too. Things still sell out! The price of admission alone is a combination of profit/crowd control. I can't imagine what would happen if they had a sale on basic admission passes.

And exactly why I don't do the special events anymore. The best one I ever did, they don't do anymore and that was the D3 dessert party. Well worth the price back then.
And another reason why I don't do the dessert parties or after hours stuff. I do some tours and we are doing MNSSHP this year but we only do it like every 3 years. They get enough of my cash (AP holder, DVC member, local) so I don't need to plunk down more.
But like others said, as long as there are a majority of guest willing to pay what they charge, they will continue to charge it.

The specialty dinners/lunches offer lots of wine and/or beer, plus at least a four course meal.

We did the D3 Dessert event a few years ago and it was awful. Not that many desserts, lots of doughnuts with booze (not interested in that), more savory than sweet desserts. Desserts should be sweet.

We did the Burger party maybe two years ago and it was very good.

I find it interesting that Party for the Senses is not sold out. And that you can still book wine view lounge this long after booking opened. I think maybe they are starting to reach the point where people are not willing to pay what they want for what they’re delivering

Never have been the least bit interested in the F&W events. I live in New Orleans and this month over 100 of the top restaurants here have prix fixe 2 course lunches for $20 or under and 3 course dinners for $39 or under. I plan on eating lots of great food.

I do enjoy the food booths at F&W, F&G, and the Christmas season.

There has only ever been one F&W event that I was even a little bit interested in, but it wasn't available when we were going. We will just stick with the food booths.

I suspect the prices may be part of why they are no longer doing the specialty meals at the resort restaurants (or just lack of interest) They were expensive.
There are many low price options including the wine education activities for under $20 that I have always felt were worth the money. We have done many of the food and wine pairings, even at $60-$100 per person, have never felt that they were not worth the money. 4-5 courses, each paired with wine over 2-3 1/2 hours, never felt over priced.
Have never done the big parties, so can't comment. The Party for the Senses sounds really fun, but can't justify $230 or $350 (if you do the provate lounge area) per person. Maybe I'm missing something.

Then again, we adore V&A, and others would consider that terribly overpriced, so I guess its a matter of perspective.

I don't have an issue with the prices, it's the fact that the events are non-refundable. I get that they don't want people just randomly signing up for things only to cancel later on. We are locals now and there were several events that we really wanted to do but my husband travels for business a bit and, although he does generally know a least a few weeks in advance, because the events are non-refundable we didn't want to take a chance that we would pay several hundred dollars for events only to find that he would be out of town.

Considering that some of the events sold out in hours I find it hard to believe the 'pricing' is why they stopped the meals. I expect that it's because there are two different "business lines" and the "park line" and "resort line" don't always play well together when it comes to sharing in the profit.

As for PFTS until last year I could justify it on an emotional basis, but... they keep cutting back while raising prices and I think I am done!

Having been to several Party for the Senses events it is a complete joke now what it costs. I know it's supply and demand (duh) and I would charge what I could get too but it's just so not worth it in my opinion for the $229 it will cost this year.

And even the 45 minute culinary demos. It kind of bothers me to have to PAY at all for those-I remember when they were free. Then, the first year they charged, they were only $6. In 10 years they've gone from being free to being about $16 each. And for free you got wine with it!

I’m excited to try a culinary demo this time. First time doing any of the special events at F&W. Of course, free would be better :)

Unfortunately Disney is a business and profits are their main concern. As long as people spend their hard earned money and pay the prices charged they will continue to rise. It is kind of a catch 22. Still as family vacations go it is cheaper than some and it does make the family happy. :)

I guess the only solution is to buy Disney stock and use the gains to pay for the vacation.
