F/A 18 Plane Crashes in Va Beach

Please keep the residents of Virginia Beach in your thoughts...a Navy F/A 18 Jet Plane crashed into an apartment complex around noon today. It was taking off from NAS Oceana when it caught fire and went down. Reports are saying the pilots are ok, they were taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.....they are not saying if any civilians were injured.

The police closed off part of the interstate going to the beach area.

I plan to watch the news tonight when I get home....this is such a terrible thing

I'm from VA and this is the first I've heard of this.... i have a lot of family in VA Beach. prayers for everyone affected.

CNN reports that one of the pilots was admitted while the other was treated and released. A police officer and 3 others were also treated and released.

The mayor said that nine people had non-life threatening injuries.

But they are still doing a building-by-building search.

OMG, it's a miracle nobody was hurt worse. I really hope they don't find any bodies. At least no-one is unaccounted for.

Good News, as of yesterday, everyone who lived in the apartment complex have been accounted for.

I was in the area yesterday, so we drove by...what a mess !!!!! The main road is open now, but all around the apartments is still blocked off, with tons of security agents around there. Most of the small debris is cleaned up, just the plane itself has to be removed. The news stated this morning, that the residents affected, should be allowed back in sometime within a week to gather up any items they want. It appears that 40 apartments were damaged or destroyed...It truely is a miracle that no one was seriously injured or any loss of life.
