Eyeglasses Question

This may sound like a stupid question but I am dumb when it comes to eyeglasses because neither my husband or I have them. Someone stepped on my daughter's glasses at camp and the lens popped out and the frame was bent. Can I take them to any local eyeglass store (like Pearle Vision) to have them repaired? I am asking because none of them say on their website that they repair glasses-- is it just a given? How long does it normally take? Of course this happens 3 days before we leave on vacation! Thanks!

Happened to my daughter at school. We went back to the place we bought them, and they repaired them in 5 min with no charge. If you are going somewhere you didn't buy them, maybe you'll be hit with a small fee. I'm sure most places could fix them for you (though maybe that depends on how badly they are bent)...

If the frame was bent, probably not. Now, they may be able to slightly reshape the lenses to fit in another frame. Is there a Wal-Mart with a vision center near you/camp? I know they can. I just don't know how long it takes.

A lot of places will fix them but they tell you that since you did not buy them there, if they break while being fixed, they are not responsible, where as, if you bought them there and they break while fixing, they replace them for you.

I highly suggest the flex frames for kids :D. Our son kept getting his glasses bent playing at recess and such, he was at the eye dr almost weekly getting them fixed. We finally went to the flex frames and he went about 2 years without needed them adjusted!

They ARE flex frames! I love them. I think they just need to be adjusted the right way. That, and having the lens popped back in.

Thanks, everyone. I called the Pearle Vision nearest me and they said they could try. I really don't want to go to the place that sold them as it's a few hours away. :)

OP, where did you buy the glasses? Can you bring them back there?

My DS13 has been wearing glasses since he was 5. And he's a boy. We buy his glasses at a Pearle Vision that is 5 minutes from my house because I can't even tell you how many times we've had to stop by Pearle and see if they can fix, repair, or Band-Aid his glasses until new ones could be ordered.

They've always been very helpful but I'm not sure how it works if you didn't buy them there. I suggest calling an eyeglass place close to where you are and see what they say.

Any optician should be able to fix, or at least try to fix them. Depending on where you go you may be charged though.
