Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close...?? Asperger's: they got it wrong

The child actor is a genius in real life that the director saw on Jeopardy and felt he was perfect for the part.

I have to agree with everyone else on this thread...just because your child doesn't swear has no bearing on whether other kids with Asperger's doesn't swear. I'm surprised, really, that someone with a child on the spectrum would be so quick to lump them all together.

finally saw this film on the recommendation of my therapist and OT... I am 45 yrs. old and this is the first time I have ever seen anything come close to reality in the mind of an Aspergers or SPD person. I have to keep re-watching it. I have SPD and while it is NOT Aspergers there are STRONG similarities throughout... I just needed to see if others were experiencing this observation.

A close friend of mine has a son with Asperger's. He has a sense of humor with some people -- usually because they started joking with him first and they use really obvious tells that they're telling a joke. He doesn't get subtle jokes or sarcasm, but he does have a sense of humor. He also has quite the potty mouth.
