Does anyonee have any thoughts on a cabin extremely foward, 2 decks under the bridge.(cabin 7010) Does anyone know if these foward cabins have more motion or are noisy (anchor dropping...)
I remember reading that foward cabins are less popular (I think), i'm not sure why. We have always had mid ship or more towards the aft.
We are looking into the Disney wonder & they are so expensive i'm trying to cut costs by getting an oceanview opposed to a verandah.

We were in 7604 on the Magic (they upgraded us the week before, we booked 2028). The wait staff said this was one of the rougher cruises in a while, but we never had a problem.
But is is a cabin that is aft. Never heard any operational noises.
We were on the Eastern route, and docked in every port, so the anchor was never dropped. And we never felt the side thrusters, or heard them, you could only see the water churning if you looked down when they were operating.

We had room 6500 for our wonder cruise in Aug. It was the farthest room forward. It was a walk to get to most food areas and other things but who really cares...your on a cruise...;)
As far as motion we felt nothing, we also had very calm seas. We heard some noise from under us. We are not sure what it was though, and was mostly while we were in port. So it really was no bother. You may not hear that since you are up one deck. On the day we got back to Port Canaveral, we hear a low engine type noise at 4am as we dropped into gear to come back into port. But like I said, I would cruise in the boiler room just to be on a cruise.

ENJOY!

We had a far forward cabin on the Wonder in February of last year and it was fine. I've had cabins foward, mid-ship and aft. My favorite for location are the aft ones but they have all been great and I've never really noticed anything regarding movement that was more in one than the others.

We've been in a Cat 8 forward cabin (6512) on our first, and second cruises, and will be in the same cabin for our upcoming 3rd cruise! It is quiet, less hallway traffic, no engine vibration, and convenient to the clubs (Rockin Bar D, etc.), Walt Disney Theatre, Quiet Cove Pool, The Stack/ESPN Zone, and Spa. As for motion...I haven't noticed any more here than anywhere else on the ship. Wherever your stateroom is you'll have a great time!

We LOVE forward cabins. Our first cruise was cabin 7002, second was 5018, third was a midship verandah and we didn't care for the location at all (not that it affected our trip one bit but we wouldn't book midship again given the choice). Our last cruise we had 6003 (by choice) and we booked the same cabin (6003) for our next cruise as well. They are so quiet and as it has been pointed out, super convenient to the places where we spend most of our time. Also the forward elevators seem a lot less crowded than the midship elevators. As with everything, it's personal preference but personally we prefer forward!

Hi Lisa, we will be in 5018 in May.
I was a little nervous being forward since we were midship previously. I wanted to try something different.
Thanks for the reassurance. :earsgirl:

My only open options are midship Deck 1 or very far aft on deck 2. WDWLVR you said aft was your favortie? What are the advantages of this area? This will be our first time and I just assumed midship was best.

We're going on the January 25 Wonder and we're in cabins 7004 and 7006.....I think it's a great location....we're in a small, quiet hallway, staterooms above and below, and best of all....we're on a Disney Cruise. Can't beat that. Have fun planning!

we stayed in 7010 on the Magic on our first cruise 4 years ago...we liked it, but prefer aft on deck 2 better....

We were also on 7010 on the Magic--twice in fact. the only noise we heard was when they were loading and unloading the baggage since the freight elevator was across the hall, but this happened at unobtrusive times. On debarkation day, we had to get up anyway :)

the room was a hike to the kids area on Deck 9, but not so much to be a bother. I mean, after you've trekked across AK and back, what's a few hundred yards!

Another plus from our point of view was that the housekeeping station was nearby and we could always get whatever we needed right away. Made friends with both of our housekeepers on both cruises.
