Extreme rate increase for 2006, or what?

I looked on allearsnet and for 2005 rates, during the regular period we would be going and staying there (May 25-27th before cruise) it shows Lodge concierge at GF for $535 a night.
Yet when I start booking that on disney's website it is charging $780.50 per night for lodge concierge. Main building would add $334 more per night ($1114.50 per night!!!!)

Any ideas on why this is? We were wanting to stay concierge at GF for these 2 nights since any other trip we take will be LONG trips (those are the best for us ) and when we're spending on a long trip and many park days- we really don't stay in our room long and don't want to pay so much for the room. But THIS trip is only a 2-nighter staying onsite before the cruise and only one day at the parks (MK) -so we wanted to splurge for concierge at GF... but jeezus... I don't know if I can make myself pay that much.

I just looked on Mousesavers.com. It lists the rack rate for lodge concierge for 2006 as $550.00 per night. This is not including tax.

On the Disney site it lists the rate of $613.24 per night, which does include the tax. So, I think that is why you are seeing such a big price jump. One site is including the tax and the other isn't.

The allears rate is for lodge concierge and does not include tax. The rate ($780.50) you are getting is for concierge in the main building. There is a price difference between the 2 as you can see. Look at the rates listed on this site for 2006 which include tax and I find to be the most comprehensive.

As I stated in the OP- to change to main building (an option shown below when booking with disney.com) was an additional $334 per night. It showed it there and I clicked it and it added it to the already at $780.50 rate quoted for lodge concierge. To stay 2 nights at GF concierge main building was a total of over $2000 including taxes... and this isn't even peak period!

(ps. the taxes on the $780.50 rate for LODGE CONCIERGE was $161 for both nights- that's about $81 taxes per night. $81 plus $535 a night that allearsnet shows for 2005 rates isn't anywhere near $780.50 per night. It's $616 per night, a difference of $164.50 per night which is why I asked are the rates going up considerably in 2006 or what!)

I checked the rates on disneyworld.com this morning. They matched the rates that the DIS shows. You might try again.

Lodge Concierge was $596.53 in 2005 and is now $613.26. Concierge Main Building was $763.78 in 2005 and is now $780.50


So, no, rates did not go up considerably for 2006. They only went up $15 (pre-tax).

I had trouble on the web site today, also. I was ordering tickets only. I would enter all my info for MYW tickets, and it would give me a total. When I would click on checkout, the price would go up about $35. I called Disney and ordered the tickets from them at the lower price. Good luck!

What I can see different in what you cut/paste is that this is not 2 adults. This is 5 people in our family and our oldest will be 12 by the time of this trip- so I'm not sure if she counts as another adult? I don't think so, I think it's 17 or older is another adult, right? But perhaps the rooms that sleep 5 cost more???
I really didn't think a family of 5 would cost more than a family of 4 at the deluxe- I thought that it already was more expensive because it was the only place (except a trundle bed in a few rooms at POR) that a family of 5 could stay in one room... in other words you have to go deluxe to have a family of 5 in one room, I didn't think it would cost you more at a deluxe than a family of 4. But that's the only difference I can see- you did it with just 2 adults. I did it with 2 adults and 3 children (none under the age of 3, btw).

Also very strange that your quote only shows $167 more for main building concierge... (instead of lodge concierge) I'd think that is one night and mine was showing 2 nights ($334) BUT FOR the fact that when I clicked it to add it- it added $668 to the total. This is very strange... is it making me get 2 rooms by chance? Perhaps all the rooms that will sleep 5 are taken already?

And side note: anyone know how to get a better rate instead of paying full rack rate? I don't have an AP- that's not an option when we're only spending one day in the park in 2006. (plus we all have extra days left over on park hoppers except for myself -so it will only cost for ME for one day for us all to go to the park one day before the cruise)

You are right. 5 people should not make a difference. One way to save money is to call and see if they still have rooms at the AAA rate. You could book that and then get AAA if you don't already have it. It should cost less than $100 and could save you 10%. I didn't do the math so I don't know if it puts you ahead or not.

This is why I never book on the Disney website. It seems to have problems and if you have to make any changes to your reservation or want to add requests, it's easier to have made a reservation over the phone.

Of course, now that I have an AP, I will probably have to make my reservation on the website. I guess I'll give it a try.

I think you should try again. i put in 2 adults 3 children, randomly ages 4, 7 and 12 and was given a price quote of $550 a night, total for two nights with tax $1226.52

How much more is the conseigre (wow, I just butchered that) service?
I know you said you wanted to be pampered, but when were were looking at booking at a resort before we looked at the cost and then at the benefits and they just did not add up. Up to you, of course, but I would think that staying at the GF would be pampering enough!

I just checked the AAA rates for you for GF LC and how much it would cost to join AAA in Texas, here is what I found:

AAA basic membership: $49 + $20 new member fee = $69

GF Lodge Concierge (5/25 - 5/27) = $495 X 2 nights + 11.5% tax = $1103.85

Total for GF LC + AAA membership = $1172.85 (roughly $586.42 per night)

I guess it's not a huge savings over the rack rate (AAA really pays when you have longer stays or need more than one room!), but it's a little something, plus AAA gives you some nice little perks like discounts at restaurants in DTD and last year, a voucher to go to their VIP room in MK. I know January is Disney month at AAA and they're offering some other perks for those who book their April - Dec. 2006 trip now - a little gift plus I believe a special character story time in MK. On a side note - I joined AAA last year just for the Disney discount and then ended up saving over $200 when I went to buy snow tires at Bridgestone - so it ended up saving me even more in other places! I guess you could say I'm an AAA fan.

Thanks for all your help. I'm wondering what the AAA rates would be for main building though- that's what we want.
I realize it's enough pampering to stay there- but in case I neglected to mention it before, this may be the only time we stay at GF. We just don't usually spend much time in our room on our longer trips and this is probably the only time we'll go on such a short resort stay (before cruise). I really can't even see us going on a cruise again for many years after this one (because of the way they group the pre-teens with older children, and each time one of mine will be old enough I think they can go with the older children- I'll have ANOTHER preteen I think is too young to be with older children! Times that by 3- it's going to be a long time before we cruise again. ). Our normal resort stays are longer- and quite frankly after this we will probably start going to FW and taking our travel trailer (since our kids are older and if we all go, if it's not just me and the kids, we'd have to pay more for a room we're rarely in).

So I figured one short trip... better get that GF concierge (main bldg) in there once. LOL It's really the only time we'd ever be able to make "good" on the benefits of concierge. We're going to arrive early on the 25th and only spend the 26th at MK (in which we can take rest breaks and take the monorail back to GF during that day ofcourse) and then check out on 27th for the cruise. Any other time we'd not only be staying a LONG trip and not worth spending that much (and we detest the idea of switching resorts during our stay- where we land when we get there is where we want to stay! LOL) but also we'd be in the parks and such gone all day... we wouldn't want to come back to the resort during those trips. We would just go straight to the cruise but we'd need to arrive the day before anyway and then stay in some other hotel? Nah, we'd rather throw in a few nights at GF and a day at MK.


So I wonder what the AAA rate is for GF main bldg concierge?

I was just about to go ahead and bite the bullet and pay for it booking online with disney.com because I'm afraid it will be gone soon and we won't have a choice in the matter! But now I'm wondering if we'd save a little with AAA and although we probably won't use it in any other way... this Jan thing with special character story time at MK sounds interesting. I mean if I'm saving money by joining AAA anyway. LOL Is it possible to go ahead and book thru disney.com and THEN in Jan join AAA and get the rate that AAA is offering- just switch it over to AAA? I'm not sure if that's possible and afraid to wait too much longer! There's only a limited amount of rooms in main building after all and we're closing in on our trip!

It's showing $1561.00 on Disney now... can anyone beat that and let me know how? That's 2 nights, 2 adults, 3 children (none under the age of 3) for 2 nights May 25 check in, May 27th check out.
