Extreme Couponer J'aime Admits to Fraud (sort of)

No, not really. You aren't exactly matching up the bar code on the coupon to the bar code on the product. There is a very easy way to tell if the coupon is set to work for the whole family of products or just the specific product. You can glance at the coupon and tell this. I won't mention how since I feel its not the proper use of the coupon. But it is easy to find it out.

If it's so easy, why do almost all of the shopping trips they show take hours? :confused3 You know at the end where they say, "after two hours in the grocery store", "after three hours", etc...

Yeah, I do really hate how all of this is going to affect those of us that do follow the rules. I'm sure most of you know that there are still great and free deals without having to cheat the system to get them. So I just really don't understand why people like her feel they have to pull those kind of shenanigans. :(

Most of the stores I shop at are great about using coupons (plus they know I'm careful. . no expired cpns, for the listed product and sizes, etc). BUT one of my local Targets is horrible. They make you feel like you're trying to steal something if you use a few coupons. I really try to avoid that place if at all possible.

I think its because it takes a lot of time to put all that stuff in carts, etc. They often have 5 or 6 carts of stuff! Sometimes they also have to have the managers go in the back and bring out more stock of xyz.

However, I don't think its because they are spending time in the store matching up the coupons. If you notice, most of those couponers already have their list and coupon matchups when they go into the store. They already have their plan down. See J'aime's list:

I am not an extreme couponer, but play the CVS "game". I have my list and my coupons all ready when I go in the store. I can pretty much tell you what my total will be before I even step foot in the door. That way, I know that everything in the transaction went right and no coupons were missed, etc.

I love a good deal as much as the next person but I stick with the rules. I worry that people like J'aime are going to cut down on the number of legitimate coupon deals. I suppose that I may have used the wrong coupon at some time but I am pretty careful about making sure that I have matched the product size, etc to what the offer is for. And I always check my expiration dates pretty carefully.

I get all my coupons from legitimate sources - printed legally from my home computer, from my Sunday paper inserts or from inserts that are given to me by friends or family. When I get too much of a product, I donate my surplus to a food pantry. Happens a lot with toothpaste since its been pretty easy to make money on it for quite a while. I also give stuff to friends and family - sort of a barter system. My sister in law cooks for me and in return I supply her with some stuff.

Fraud is fraud. I don't care how she tries to excuse herself.

I am still dying to know what her plans are for all that mustard. It seems like it would be impossible to use that much in a lifetime and DH & I both love mustard.

HA! I know...I think the same thing. My DH said this was one step away from hoarding. If you are not going to use the product, and it just expires it is a waste.

FYI, there is a .30 coupon for mustard in this week's inserts. Just in case you want to get a bottle of mustard or two or forty. :lmao:

They should make an example out of her after all this is not her first offense:rolleyes1. She does it because she feels she is un-touchable. As you stated fraud is fraud. She knows better:sad2:
