How much more did you give your head server, server, assistant server and state room host on a seven day cruise? I gave extra but I hope I didn't insult them.

i base extra tipping on the total service. the better the extra the more i tip extra.

Most people that I've talked to have tipped in the double/triple range for excellent service. But really, anything over and above is much appreciated and is a great complement to the worker.

Give as generously as you can based on the service you received and you can't go wrong!

if you gave more than the recommended amount, then there's no way you insulted anyone. :teeth: I'm sure they were happy with whatever extra you decided to give to them.

We were in the double/triple extra range.

The only one we regretted tipping at all was the head server..who we only saw twice..once she introduced herself, asked who was celebrating what (we were a table of honeymooners/anniversary couples). She set up cake night for all of us, and we didnt see her again until the last night when tips were being handed out..and no one, not one couple at our table received a cake.

Not that we needed it, but, she was the one that made a big deal out of it the first night. We all regretted tipping her.

Tipping the suggested amount is not an insult. Tipping more than the suggested amount is definately not an insult.

For a family of 4 on a 7-night cruise, the recommended tips total up to $305. I think we tipped around $500, total, reflecting the quality of the service. I'm not saying that anyone needs to plan on tipping $500. That was just our choice.

We rounded up our tipping but just a little. I agree with WEBRAY. We reduced our head servers tip because he only visited us twice and seemed very uninterested. I'm not sure what there functions is anyway.

LUVTHEMAGIC- We were on the 1/15 cruise too. Add to the weather and missed ports a poor team in the dining room. We let it go for the first 3 days and finally mentioned our problem to the head waiter, he didn't correct the problem and we chose to eat at topsiders for 2 out of the 7 nights. We did give the wait staff tips, but deducted the 2 nights amount and took our problem to the senior staff officer in charge of the dining room...Mark

I would only tip extra if they go above and beyond. The first cruise we went on the two that took care of us must have been new. They weren't very good or friendly. Didn't really go out of their way to do anything. Had to ask to have our water glasses filled several times.

On our second cruise the servers were great. We took care of our extra requests and our glasses were always filled. They came to our table and checked on us often. I tipped them well. We missed lobster night. Our server called our room and asked if we wanted him to send it for room service. That is service!

I agree with the previous person, the head server was not that great. We saw him twice also. At the beginning of the cruise and at the end. On our first cruise he helped us change our dinner time a couple of times. That was appreciated.

On our last cruise we tipped close to double and gave them all phone cards on christmas day. They were all great. Our head server and servers became espically nice when Tom McAlpin came over to our table. They found we were friends with him and treated us extra special. lol

Our head waiter was with us every night, arranged all birthday and anniversary cakes, and helped serving our lobster. We added something to her tip. BTW, her name was Nadege and she came from France. Perhaps having us Europeans at the table helped, but seeing her scanning the dining room continously I don't think so. She simply took her job serious,

We had John from Scotland as our head server and he was awesome....was at our table every day to check if everything was ok. We has Depak as our server and we tipped 20.00 extra each and Cristi as our assistant server and tipped him 15.00 extra each.

John Cunningham from Scotland? He was our head server too, and he was great! He definitely stopped by our table every night and several nights he stayed and chatted and kidded around with our DSs a bit. :)

We had Toto and Oppie as our serving team and they WERE "Excellent"! :teeth:

We overtipped everyone, including our cabin steward (Darwin). They deserved it :)
