Extra sneakers?

I suggest picking up some sandals that won't retain water when they get wet. I wear Teva sandals that have straps to secure them to my feet and I can walk all day in water in those without problems. I've had a version of those for about 20 years now since my kids were little. These days I often take short trips and can travel with just one pair of shoes that way, but you could always use them as your second pair and carry them with you to change into if it rains.

I always bring two pair of broken in sneakers, not just because of rain, but in case one pair decides to start giving me blisters. (Happens sometimes)

Newspaper works well to dry them if you stuff it inside once back at the hotel.

I found that out years ago & it does work well. The problem is, the resort gift shops no longer sell newspapers. Do you just bring some with you from home just in case you need it?

I always bring at least 2 sometimes 3 pairs of sneakers. I have pairs I rotate when exercising and these are the ones I wear at Disney so they are broken in. I rotate shoes each day I am there to avoid blisters, etc. I bring a pair of flip flops to wear to the pool or around the resort. I also bring an extra pair of socks with me to the parks in case they get wet from rides or rain.

I'm another person that does not bring any sneakers at all. I wear Keens sandals nearly daily in my everyday life and just wear those same ones to Disney. They dry super fast and I don't have to worry about rain or getting soaked on a ride like Kali.

My son owns only sneakers so I bought him a pair of Crocs at the beginning of the summer. He has been wearing them every day so they will be broken in for our next trip.

If I wore sneakers, I would definitely bring a second pair.

I travel to Disney wearing a pair but pack a pair of "boat shoes" for those days of rain. They are made to get wet and dry out.

I wear pretty much exclusively Brooks for every day where and they have some waterproof Gortex (GTX) shoes that are as comfortable as their normal shoes. They also breathe extremely well. I take the ElL to work everyday and walk a ton around Chicago.....so anytime it even thinks about raining I wear these. I've worn them to the parks and are really comfy. I've tried all types of waterproof shoes and these are my favorite. The colors are unfortunately limited....but luckily I'm at the age where I care more about comfort than being stylish.

KIWI Sneaker Protector. I apply 3 coats to all my sneakers. It works remarkably well waterproofing shoes.

I always have at least two pairs (one pair worn on the plane). If rain is anticipated, I will bring a pair of slider sandals or thong sandals (the latter is easier to pack in my park bag). I can’t wear less expensive “flip flops” anymore, so the ones I carry have a tad more support, although I generally prefer not to wear them in the parks for any length of time unless I have to.

I don’t wear the same pair of sneakers two days in a row at home so not going to on vacation either. Always have two pair

When you travel in the summer with all the pop up thunderstorms and downpours do you pack two pairs of sneakers so you have dry ones for the next day/later that day? How do you handle if your feet and shoes get soaked?
No. I dry my sneakers overnight if necessary. It’s pretty easy. Use towels to soak up the moisture (stuff them inside the shoe a few times) and position them upside down to dry out, preferably near a vent. It can be nice to have Sandles to wear while that’s happening. If it’s a real emergency you can use a hair dryer after soaking up as much as you can with towels. It shouldn’t take days to dry out sneakers.

My go to park shoe is a good sport/outdoor sandal. Not only good for the rain but on rides you get wet. For years my husband refused to wear a sandal. Insisted on sneakers. He got himself a pair of Tevas & loves them.

Yeah I avoid sneakers entirely at the parks and go with sport sandals. Swapping between 2-3 pairs helps prevent blisters...we do midday breaks so I never wear the same pair twice in a row, I swap when we go back out and then swap to a different pair the next day. Works very well.

Not a sneaker person and the reefs I wear dry really fast since they're water resistant but I will still bring other options like my flip flops, to keep back at the room and to change daily just in case. A strap might break or whatever, always smart to have an extra pair. As far as bringing extra shoes into the park, that's not for me but it sounds like a lot of ppl on here said they carry extra shoes with them.....I don't know, I try to carry as little as possible esp in the heat of the summer. But wet feet are no fun and wet feet, inside of wet socks, inside of wet sneakers is blister town waiting to happen. We've had to buy my kids flip flops at the parks bc of this.

We always bring 2 pairs of shoes, where both are quality for walking, and usually 1 is something water tolerant like sandals. We used to like Ecco, but Earth, Dr Schools, Teva are all good options. One thing I always look for is something with adjustable straps, bonus if they are look nice enough to wear to dinner.

Wet sneakers in summer not only take days to dry, but they can also get very stinky. Many times, we've been stuck on rides/shows/dining near a family with nasty sneakers and phew! Try not to be that family! Ideally it is good to replace them a little while before a trip. Time to break them in, but still new.

I also suggest waterproofing spray.

^^yeeessss the number of times we’ve smelled funky feet at wdw is nuts. Not easy to avoid esp standing in lines. Even some people’s wet flip flops have a funk 🤮

I always bring at least 2 pairs! If I know that its going to be rainy I actually have New Balance with Gore-Tex so they always stay dry no matter what! But if I don't bring those, i still always bring at least 2 pairs to change out. I don't like to wear the exact same pair everyday and walk 30K steps! I do also bring a pair of comfy sandals that I can wear for a couple hours, if needed! And I always bring twice the amount of socks I think I'll need! When I take a mid-day break.. I always change my socks!

My dh and ds did a RunDisney event and got rained on. Their sneakers didn’t dry by the next morning. We had to go out and buy them new sneakers. Found a Nike outlet very close to WDW. It would have been so much easier if they had brought 2 pairs.
