My next door neighbor who is a Disney addict told my husband...

She booked her room with 2 adults, 2 children and wanted to add her married adult daughter to their room. She was told their would be an extra nights room fee for each night putting her in the room because she was over 18 and lived at a different address.

Has anyone heard of this?

I think she misunderstood, or got bad information. It's not an extra nights room fee for each night, but an up-charge for each night she was in the room. It's a common practice in the hotel industry.

Yes that is the policy. I don't think it applies to the suites at AoA though. It's $10 per night for the third adult.

so does that mean once my oldest turns 18, she won't get that extra charge since she lives at my address?

We stayed at BC last year & added DD & DBF to reservation & it was additional $50 a night. Room capacity was 4 but both were over 18 & didn't matter if she lived at home or not.

Where the person lives doesn't matter. There is a per night charge for more than 2 adults in a regular room.

I think this would fit better in the resorts board rather than news and rumors.

Thanks everyone!

I had posted it on another site I belong to and she reminded me of the fee for anyone 18 or older when there are already 2 adults in the room. Which I knew because we had two of our daughters last fall with us and had to pay $25 extra per extra adult for per night. I guess knowing these people I figured they would at least talk to a manager about this supposedly "new Disney policy" that their Disney operator told them. It was very explicit from this lady that this was a new policy.

So, then I proceeded to call Disney and flat out ask them. She said their was no "new policy" and what I already knew, just an extra per night $25 fee for their married daughter. (depending on where you stay) I then asked if she could look up my friends resi. She said yes and asked the info. She looked at it and said everything looked fine and she would just be charged the extra $25 fee/night. But, she asked me to hold she would like to ask her manager something.

Come to find out it was the Carribean where she was staying, which has now opened up to 5 people and she could tell who the last operator my friend had talked to. This Disney person will be spoken to and given the correct information to tell the customers.

I am still amazed that my friend didn't speak to a manager or double check this.

Before I posted this I quickly looked around to see if their were any rumors of this...when I didn't see any, I didn't think it was a "new Disney policy." Disboards always seems to know everything!! :ssst: :flower3:

I was too, but she didn't tell me anything but the answer to the question. I had to provide the information and my friend was as curious as I if I would get the same answer.

It means that anyone over 18, no matter where they reside, is charged an extra fee per night. It is standard in the hotel industry to cover towel use, water use, etc.

Only a little goes into those things. Hotel budgets are based on 1 room per 1-2 adults. A third adult in a room represents a lost room sale. The fee for an extra adult includes the lost profit margin for the lost room sale.

The price is higher than $10 in the Deluxes. I have a room booked with three adults for food and wine and the price difference was higher than $10 plus tax!

Oops - it's $10 at values.

The extra adult fee is $10pp at all values except the family suites. It's $15pp at all of the mods except the cabins. And it's $25pp at the deluxe resorts.

don't think address of extra adult has anything to do with it. Fee is simply for any number of adults greater than 2...

I have paid this since my youngest was 18 when either my older DD or my sister came along
