Ok, we just made reservations for the WL during MG 2006 (Feb 2006). We are 2 parties of 4 people. My party booked, and got a rate (with food plan) of around $3000. My sister booked with another party of 4 (same number of adults and kids), but with 2 rooms instead of 1. Same level of room (woods view), same food plan, but $5100. I extra woods view room cost $2100???

We asked for an explanation, but didn't get a good one. We plan on calling back, but I wanted everyone else's feedback, and hopefully some suggestions.

Thanks.

>>>>>>Well if you are staying for 7 nights at around 300.00 a night(not unusual in peak season) that would be 2100.00----why do they need two rooms? I am assuming 2 adults-2 kids? . For 2100.00 bucks I would say togetherness is good thing-we all share the same room.! We were four in a WL room and had plenty of room. We were not crowded at all. :cool1:

That sounds about right (if it's $315 a night +tax). Your sister's second room is probably the basic room rate without the food plan. Her first room would include the food plan costs for her group and anything else like tickets. There's no "discount" for the second room with a plan package. She'll be paying the full rack rate on that 2nd room during peak or near-peak season. Not a cheap time to go.

FYI, there is currently a Jan-Mar discount (code YRD, I think) for the package w/food plan. I don't know if it would save you much, but it might be worth looking into. It might help your sister or you save a buck or two. The info is on www.allearsnet.com. Check under Planning at the top right of the page. If it works for you, call and have your ressie changed to the discount rate.

Thanks for the replies, but we are staying for 5 nights, so that $2100 is like $400 a night. There's got to be something wrong, so we will call again, maybe tomorrow.

The 2nd group has to have 2 rooms - it's a smoking vs non-smoking issue, so if that's the price, they are stuck with it.

How old are the kids?

If you can give us more details, we can run the numbers for you. Types of tickets, etc.

The title of the post says $1800 - the content says $2100... I can get $1800 to work if:

Mardi Gra - last week of Feb 2006, Peak rates
WL Woods view $315 per night plus tax
5 nights x $315 x 11.5% tax = $1756

If any of the 'kids' are age 18 or older, and that is the 3rd adult in the room, there is a $25 per night extra charge, thats $125 extra.

IF it was a courtyard view with a 3rd adult:
5 nights x $355 x 11.5% tax + $125 = $2104 ......

Finally, issue was resolved.

First off, I wonder how Disney operates, sometimes. Remember, we've been there multiple times, they have the ages of the kids, and DW and myself. Not rocket science.

When we got our printed reservation yesterday, they left my name off the package. So, we had to add my name on. Then I noticed that they didn't give us the discounted price (the original quote was about right for 4 people, only problem it was for 3), on the Magic-my-way package.

After about 30 minutes (geez), all was set, and the extra room was a couple of hundred per night extra, which makes sense....

Thanks for the suggestions.

Glad it worked out. If something doesn't sound right call Disney reservations and for the most part they will do what they can to make it right.

I am glad it worked out too! I noticed that the OP is from New Orleans...I hope you and your family are doing okay now, and that you all have a wonderful time at WDW.

Have you thought about a DVC. they are available at WL and would include accomodations for 12, master suite, Kitchen LR DR and 3bathrooms washer dryer and they are amazing. (wait, I am not sure if the 3 bedroom is avialble at VWL>

You're right, WLV doesn't have the 3-bd "Grand Villas". They're only at OKW, BWV and SSR. But WLV and all the DVC resorts have the nice 2-bedroom villas, as well as 1-bd and studios. :)

thanks for asking about the DVC, but our problem is the smokers vs non-smokers, so it's very difficult to get everyone under 1 roof.

and, we are doing ok in New Orleans, compared to most other people. We weren't flooded, just have to deal with getting a new roof. Not pleasant at all, but at least we have our house!
