Extra Magic Hours question

Hi--I did a search but it didn't work. Could anyone tell me exactly how the extra magic hours work now? The last time (and only time) I was there, the hours were for particular resorts at particular parks on certain days. I have since heard that the extra hours are for any and all resort guests at the same time. Can anyone verify this for me? Thanks in advance for your help.

When you check into your Disney resort, you are given a list.

Every morning, there is ONE park open 1 hour earlier.

And Every night, there is ONE park open up to 3 hours later.

You need to get bracelets at the entrance of that park( you need to show your resort i.d) or at other designated areas.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information. I am still confused if it means all resorts or just select ones on certain days. Maybe I am making this too hard. I was trying to use this information to help me plan my days and dining reservations. I looked at the Extra Magic Hours page on Disney's website and it gives the dates and which parks it applies to (it even tells if it's morning or evening). However, it doesn't say if it applies to all resorts on the same day. I would hate to make an ADR because I thought that particular park was open early or late, and then that not happen. That would mess up my plan for the day. Do you see why I chose the user name that I did? : )

I don't know how it is with the AM EMH (as we never do it), but be careful when you say that every night there's one park that does evening EMH. We're going in September and only 17 out 30 nights are doing evening EMH.

Each of the 4 major theme parks (the water parks are different) has 1 morning and 1 evening each week when they have extended hours for all Disney resort guests. There is only 1 day in the week when there is both a morning & an evening extra magic hours & it is a different park in the morning from the evening. Schedules are available from the offical Disney site, or ALLEarsNet or here on this site. The schedule does change over the course of the year.

My DH and I are planning another trip for February and we based our last trip around the night EMH and so we plan on doing it the same way again!

That being said generally the night EMH goes like this

MK-Sunday
MGM-Monday
AK-Wednesday
Epcot-Friday

They don't offer night EMH on Tuesdays,Thursdays or Saturdays

Also some parks will switch their night EMH with other parks----Like AK and Epcot switch back and forth quite often

The EMH is for use by any resort guest so it doesn't matter what resort you stay at--If there is EMH for that day you are welcome to use it!

You can start getting the wristbands at a certain time (not sure what time---We just looked for other people to be wearing them, then asked a CM where they were giving them out)

The EMH were a lifesaver for us because our kids wouldn't get up in the AM so we were able to stay later at the park to make up for it plus the wait times for the rides dropped dramatically

Keep in mind that the wrist bands are available in multiple places in the park, prior to the night time EM. The lines at the main entrances tend to be extremely long....Going to another spot inside tends to require much less time.

Also...Bring a room key (card) for each person. If you do not have the room key, they will not give you the write band.

Have fun

Nope, it is not necessarily every morning and evening.

Here's how EMH works for all parks.

Look up the POSTED open and close times for any day, any park.
Only WDW resort guests staying on-property will be allowed EHM privileges and it COSTS NOTHING EXTRA to attend the EMHs.
There are slightly different situations for MORNING and EVENING EMH's.

-------MORNING EMH FACTS--------------------------------------
If it is a MORNING EMH, then WDW resort guests staying on-property will be allowed entry to THAT park on THAT day starting ONE HOUR before the posted opening time.
At least ONE person in your party should have a room key-card with them (sometimes EACH person needs to show one) to verify your current hotel status and gain entry.
So, only WDW resort guests will be ALLOWED INTO the park.
Once inside, only selected attractions will be open.
See the official WDW website for the latest attractions that will be open during EMH.

-------EVENING EMH FACTS--------------------------------------
If it is a EVENING EMH, then WDW resort guests staying on-property will be allowed to stay and ride attractions at THAT park on THAT day for THREE HOURS after the posted closing time. (Don't worry that the site says, "UP TO 3 hours." Thats just legalese... EMH will be 3 hours in the evening.)
You do NOT have to be in the park BEFORE scheduled closing time.
You CAN enter the park at any time during EMH and still get a wrist-band.
You can leave and re-enter the park at will (just like any normal time).

(So, YES, if MK is sched. to close at midnight, the EMH will run til 3AM! Yep, that's 3 in the morning. No, its not a mistake, that would be 3 full hours after the posted time. 3AM for a posted 12mid close-time. 3AM, yes sir!)

EACH guest (except for very small children) will need to show a room key-card to a CM* at special "EMH kiosks" set up in various locations throughout the park, and a wristband will be snapped on by the CM to each adult and child. Children older than 3 years old will be issued a room key when you check in if they are listed on your ressie. If they are not listed you will have problems... if they don't get issued a room key.
So make SURE the check-in desk issues each one a room-card.
With each room-key, a guest will be issued a wrist-band (it will actually be put on your wrist BY a CM).
The ride CMs will then check for these wrist-bands at each attraction before allowing guests to enter the queue.
So, even though non-resort guests may still be INSIDE the park, only those with wrist-bands will be allowed to ride any open EMH attractions.
See the official WDW website for the latest attractions that will be open during EMH.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
You can enter the parks for EMH EVENINGS anytime... during "regular" hours, or even during the actual extended EMH hours.
This 1-hour morning EMH and 3-hour evening EMH rule applies at all 4 parks. Enjoy!

From what I understood, they have more extra magic hours during the summer. Sorry, it was clear when I wrote it. But now I figure it might only have been clear to me hehehe
