Extra day/Late arrival question

Hey,

We're driving up from Fort Lauderdale in September and will arrive on the 18th in the late afternoon to early evening (4-6pm). We'll have 5 day premium passes and plan on spending one day in each park and will use our 3 plus options (Blizzard Beach and Disney Quest in one day on Wednesday -- as a break from the big parks in the middle -- and Typhoon Lagoon on the day we leave).

As we're only using 4 of our 5 park days on this schedule, I was thinking we could go to the Magic Kingdom on Sunday evening - even if we only got there at 6-7pm - and just walk around, do a ride or two and have dinner there.

If not, we may end up leaving Disney with an extra day (and we're coming in from overseas and won't have time to use it later in our trip). Would it be a waste to use a park day on a few hours there in that situation? I thought it'd be a nice surprise for my family that we'd be able to hit a park on the day we arrive.

Thanks!
