I have the 270ex for my Canon Xsi. I don't know how the t2i is, but I have found that if I'm taking flash photos, the onboard flash takes a bit to recycle after the first few shots. Adding a flash takes care of that problem. I had the same problem with the Xti I used to have.
I had a larger one, but got tired of carrying the camera along with the external flash, especially if I had a larger lens on the camera.
I have had the 270ex since spring, and have really liked it. There seems to be plenty of power, and its smaller size is perfect!
can this flash reach a decent distance?

If you use a direct flash with a dSLR, you flash photos will be no better than a P/S camera.
I suggest either the 430EXII or 580EXII which have plenty of power for a ceiling bounce or use with a difuser.

Good flash protography is an art, which requires learning some new skills.

I was just researching the 430EX II on Amazon. Seems like a good flash. I'm trying to figure out if that one is worth the price difference over the 270ex. Any thoughts?
For product reviews I always go here.
Thank you. I'll read this after dinner. Man, you guys have been so helpful!!![]()
the Canon 270ex has limitations - no swiveling head (important for indoors) and no manual power settings so I think you should avoid this model
I use the Yongnuo flashes - Chinese knock-offs of the Canon, Nikon brands!
they have full ETTL and manual controls, diffusers, zoom levels, etc. only $60 !
Ooooo!!! I might have to look into those knockoffs. I've recently been debating to either gets a nice external flash, or purchase a nice prime lens. After giving it some thought, I definitely know the prime would get way more use. But if i can get a decent flash for just $60, I'll definitely hop on that.
do a google search on "Yongnuo YN465"
It's a flash that works with the Canon T2i menu, ETTL, full manual controls, built in white card, diffuser, etc. only $65 If you want a fancier flash that has zoom levels, optical slave modes, etc. get the YN-467 (you'll pay $75 !)
