External battery pack needed in the park?

i'd say definitely go for it- it'll be really convenient in the parks, let alone everyday use- i have an anker to keep in my purse or car for emergencies- or when i just forgot to charge it the night before.
plus, you can also use it to charge your camera or any other electronics that charge by usb.

I have a Jackery and it works very well, is small and lightweight. Some days I need it, some I don't. It depends on how much I have to use my phone, but also what kind of "mood" my phone is in. Sometimes its battery drains really fast even when I'm not using it much, probably because a background app has gotten carried away. But there is nothing more frustrating than having your phone die in the parks, and suddenly not being able to communicate with the rest of your group. You'll waste a lot of time looking for each other if that happens, so its worth the few extra ounces to have a backup.

Agree with getting one to have just in case. I have an iphone 5s that I have not used at WDW yet but this spring in Disneyland I made it through everyday without needing a charge, most days still having over 30% charge at end of day. We would do rope drop to closing. I used it for pictures, had an app to check wait times, sent plenty of texts as I was away from family, and was just on it a fair amount in general in lines. That being said I was aware of not using it too much. No MDE there or FP+ though so I imagine I would've been on it more with those. The last day we were in the parks for 19 hours (out of a possible 24) and I was down to just under 20% but I did have a separate camera that day so less photos on phone. It was ridiculous in the bathrooms and common areas were you were allowed to charge phones. The walls were lined with people sitting down charging their phones and it would get hard to walk through.

We had fun scoping out plugs to charge from. Ended up photographing (with my husband's phone) my phone charging with whatever we were drinking right next to it. There is one in that stage area across from Pirates and we found a ton in Epcot. My favorites were in the flower bed in America and then next to the order pick up window at La Cantina de San Angel. But yes, we have already decided that next time will bring a portable charger. :)

Short answer. Yes. You don't want to run the risk. We just bring one of the small ones like this:

I have a larger Anker that charges 2 devices at the same time. It's a bit heavy (11 oz, I think) but we love it and have used it for years. We use it outside the parks too. I used it this last weekend at my DD's championship swim meet because the app to track swim times is an energy hog. I also bought my DD a smaller "lipstick" size battery and it works well too.

I'd say bring one. We use our phones quite a bit and it never hurts to have the charger just in case something happens. Me and my mom both got cheap ones for about ten dollars each at Walmart. They worked really well, too. We bring them whenever we go to theme parks now. Or I bring them for long trips to softball games.

If you think you'll use your phone a lot, I'd say to just bring a cheaper, lighter one. Just make sure you charge the charger each night so it'll be ready to go for the next day.
