We had breakfast delivered around 8:30 for the kids--we used this option 4 times, for excursion days as well, and it really worked. My parents liked to go to Lumieres for breakfast as my dad was in love with the eggs benedict.
At 9 DD#1 and niece #2 ran off to the Oceaneer's lab 10-12 because they were exploring "the stack". DH and I took DD#2 and DS to the goofy pool and played around for about an hour. DD#1 and niece #2 waved to us from the stack. There were lots of chairs open at 9 but by 10 when we left it was getting crowded--I gave my chair to a woman who was looking concerned about where to sit and she was very grateful. We got the kids cleaned up and delivered them to their respective clubs, then headed to Palo to meet my sister, BIL and parents for the brunch.
WOW! What an awesome meal. I am surprised I'm not still full 9 days later. Our server was Elianora (Ellie) who as I write this has started her 2 months off. She was wonderful. I had the talapia (sp?) which is a great fish--others at the table had eggs benedict, a 4 egg omelet with everything, beef tenderloin, eggs florentine (salmon instead of canadian bacon), and a sweet pizza at the end. I don't know if I'm remembering everything! I also had lots of shrimp, a couple of crab legs, a marvelous chocolate torte, chocolate rolls, other rolls, cold meats, I could go on and on. Nothing was bad--nothing! And Ellie was great--she walked all of us except dad through the buffet, then gave him a rundown at his seat--his back was REALLY bugging him by this point and he didn't want to walk unless absolutely necessary. We tipped her very well. As we walked out I saw a guy on deck 10 eating a hot dog and I thought I was going to barf. How could anyone eat a hot dog when I was so full?
My family members were finding things to do. My BIL did the chip-it golf contest that morning, and he and sis were walking deck 4 after every meal. Dad was trying to do exercises in the pool each day for his back (although it was hard on sea days!). I booked a chakra capsule treatment at 2 this day, and followed it up with about an hour in the rainforest room. I made a real effort to not choose really pricy spa treatments--after all, I'm a tshirt and shorts/jeans girl all year, who am I fooling? The treatment was very relaxing and I was able to wash my hair with awesome pressure in the rainforest shower. I really like the sauna and the aromatherapy there as well. BIL also did a free throw contest. DH was going to work out while I did the spa but took a nice nap instead. I also saw fun pool games going on.
At about 4 I started getting the kiddoes ready for formal night. We had arranged to go down at 5 to have our group photo taken. We had a wheel chair for dad by now to spare him as much walking as we could, but he did not want to wait in a photo line, and mom wanted to get a nice photo of everyone. Unfortunately 2 snags came up with my own family. First, DH had left his dress shoes at the end of the bed so he would have to wear sneakers. Second, DS complained that his dress shoes were too small--well, I had packed one shoe each from two different pairs, one that fits him now and one that fit him last year! They are very similar, but DS would also be wearing his sneakers. It did turn out very nicely, in spite of my two men in dark suits and white sneakers!!! We also enjoyed our complimentary drinks and all 3 families had individual shots taken with various backgrounds. I think they all came out nicely. I was again cursing DH for spending $140 on a church photo I thought was complete crap two months ago--I even told him then, "we will have nice pictures from the cruise!" The church photo is already hidden behind a nice cruise picture.
After our formal night at Animator's Palate we changed clothes and after DH and I got a photo with Goofy, we went to see Hercules the musical. DD#1 and niece #2 had seen it at 2PM but went again with DH, me, DS, DD#2, sis and BIL. Niece #1 (15) missed most of the shows. I think Hades is hysterical--he had been the host of Mouseketeer yesterday, and we saw him again at 60s night, Bingo, Golden Mickeys and Disney Dreams. I got my picture with Hades, Pain and Panic on the last night.
The kids all went to their respective clubs after that and DH, sis, BIL and I went to see Taylor Mason the ventriloquist/comic at 10:15. I thought he was really funny. He got off the ship the next day and another ventriloquist came on, but I never saw the other one. After that BIL and DH went to see "The Alamo"--sis and I stayed for the very beginning of 60s night but didn't want to go dance (and people were being dragged out on the floor) so we headed back to the room--I picked up DS from his club, but he wanted to sleep in my room so I told my parents he would stay with me, and when DH came in we still had plenty of room (DS is 6 but he's little). So we had 5 in our category 6 room, don't tell Disney!
Tomorrow: Cayman, stingrays, Golden Mickeys
