You could just get a throw away one night reservation that covers check and check out day for around $500 and get Express Pass for free with your “stay” at HRH, POB or RPR.

1/2 the price of buying separately.

I did look at that option. $600 inc taxes, etc. Still seems darn steep just for one day express passes. If we were going to stay in the room and do two days at the park, we would totally do that. Our debate is go to Universal without XP, add a day at Disney for AK, or maybe to the Disney water park. We have been to Disney several times before, including the water park.

Another idea would be do Volcano Bay, the Universal water park. That watercoaster and Fearless River is game-changing.
Next year add on two days and a Premier stay.

We are heading to US Oct. 7-10 and was wondering if EP's are really needed? Planning on doing 3 park days. According to the crowd calendar, it's a slow period.

I'm doing 2 days at Universal/Islands of Adventure in early June. (Monday and Tuesday) I expect it to be busy but not like weekend crowds I'm guessing. Also, it's just me so I figure I can get everything I want to do done in those 2 days. It just didn't make sense for me to get an express pass.

You arrive on a Thursday which should be fine crowd wise
The Friday and Saturday will have more in the park due to hhn crowds
Studios will close at 5 and reopen for hhn by 6
IOA is not involved with hhn so their hours are unchanged

Only time you will see longer line waits at Islands is when peeps leave the Studios for the other park if they have park hopper park passes

Columbus Day is October 11 and you may see more in the parks the day prior
