Sorry if this is a silly question, but I can't seem to figure this out.

If you stay at a Premier resort to get the Express Passes, are those tied to the resort or to the ticket? I ask because I won't be buying my tickets when I book my resort because we are going for dance with a group rate. I just want to make sure I'll get the express passes based just on my resort reservation.

Yes, you`ll be fine.

In the first post of the RPR sticky it explains you have EP with your stay just by staying there, regardless of who you book through.

EP is a perk of staying in any of the 3 Premier resorts.

Once you check in, you are issued with your room keys which will be issued to everyone registered in your room with their names and length of stay printed on them, you`re then good to head to the park and use your EP straight away.

You can check in very early, 6am....your room may not be ready, but you`ll still be issued room keys as your EP. You can leave any bags with Bell Services at that point.

As others have said, it is tied to the resort. You will need your park ticket to enter the park, then the express pass for the queue. Just like Disney, some rides check the pass at the beginning of the line and again near the end. The pass used to implement a face scan, but I have not seen that done since covid times. Another place you will show your pass/room key is at a second checkpoint for early entry. You will see lanyards everywhere since they are convenient to whip out with the ticket and express pass (bar codes out). If you don't want to pay Universal prices, Five Below carries them.
