Listen to the smart people on this board, I'm so glad I did. We're staying onsite (RPR) with an AP and it's $174/night. My wife and I haven't waited more than 15 minutes in a line today. We started late, so we'll tackle Harry Potter and Despicable Me tomorrow.

Thanks guys for the awesome advice.

Glad you are having a good time! we only stay onsite now.Express pass and the universal resorts spoiled us for anything less

How did you get that $174/night price? :-)

Looking at your ticker, I think you're going over Memorial Day, so it might be a bit different in terms of pricing structure, but for any planning at Universal I do, I use this site. It shows all of the hotels at once, which is nice. You cannot check AAA rates on that site, but if there's any curiousity about if there's an Annual Passholder rate that might be good enough to buy one and get that rate, you can check that by using APH in the code field.

That site lets you book room-only rates, which are cancellable to about 5 days before (you put an average one-night's deposit down and pay the rest when you are there). Then you buy tickets wherever you wish. It's generally less expensive to do it that way than to buy any sort of package. Now, sometimes packages give you something you can't get otherwise, but those types of packages are rare. (the HP package for the special event at the end of January had good things in it, but the normal HP package touts breakfast at 3 Broomsticks, which just about anyone can get now, for examples)

it was the annual pass holder price for a king size room at RPR. You can type APH as the code on the website to see them.

Aaah, new to Universal and learning everything. Glad to hear you are having a great time!

Yes, we are staying 8 nights at Animal Kingdom Villas. Trying to decide if I want to try Universal while we are there or add a couple of nights after WDW to take advantage of the perks. Thank you for the information!
