Question for more computer-savvy people than me: if you "export" bookmarks in Chrome, does it remove them from the original location, or just copy them?

Last time I got a new PC, the export function was helpful for putting out a file to let me add those bookmarks into my new PC. The feature I used did not remove them from the prior location, but I can't speak to how it might work in every browser. Exporting in general is a method of 'copying' to somewhere else, particularly where different formats are invovled.

Thanks. That's what I thought, too, because the instructions I read made it sound like people also use it to "back-up" their bookmarks. I just wanted a little more reassurance.
