I maybe transfering points to my daughter's account. How do I go about this and do they need to be from current use year? We are taking a large group in Dec./05. I plan on reserving 2 rooms and then transfering points to my DD so she can make 1 possibly 2 room ressie's. I have banked 2004 points towards next year. DD is a new member and her points become available 3/05. Am I correct that she can still make December,05 ressie in Jan,05. Also she works at a Hospital and has to be in the office every morning by 9a and doesn't get out before 6p M-F. If I have her member number and other info can I call and make the ressie for her. Calling during her 1/2 hour lunch isn't an option as it's usually a working lunch. Thank's Susan

Let me try and help.

First off you can not transfer banked points. Only current use year points.

Second, the only thing you need to do is have a 3 way call to MS and they will take care of it. I have transferred points 3 or 4 times now(we have friends and SIL in DVC) and just get their DVC number and tell them to transfer the points. Then they ask you to send an email or fax to confirm it and they put it your file. Very easy to do.

You are correct about being able to make the reservation before you actually have the points. Jan. for a Dec. ressie is correct.

Now that I said all that I do not think it would be wise to make the reservation using her account. Why don't you just have her transfer the points to you and you make the reservation? Even though her points are not available until March MS can still transfer the to your acount.

Just wanted to add that you really don't need to do a 3-way call since you're dealing with a blood relative. The person who is surrendering the points can simply call with the ID of the recipient, and MS will take care of the rest. A 3-way often comes into play when you're dealing with point rentals where the parties really don't want to share member IDs with each other (for good reason.)

Also wanted to remind you that transferred points do retain their original Home resort and Use Year. So, if you are looking to book 2 rooms at the 11 month window, all of the points must be at the same resort in order to do so.

Yes, you can book a December reservation in January at your Home resort, but keep the above in mind. With regard to booking with her points, no you would not be able to do that unless you are listed as an associated member on her contract. Remember that MS is open late on Thursdays, and you could always try the email request on the member web site. I've not used it myself, but others have been happy with the results.

thanks Todsue99 and TJKraz. It sounds like we will need to call on a Thursday. Susan
