Never been to WDW with EMH in the evenings. How does this work? Are there long lines to buy the tickets? Do we need to get in line early? Are they hard to get? How many people allowed to stay? We will be there Dec 19th to 23rd.

Thanks :earsgirl:

First, you have to look at the schedule for th EMH. The park will open early or stay open later on these days for select parks. Not everything is open during these times, but the major attractions are. The schedule should show you which ones are open.

The only ones that are allowed in are disney resort guests. so, it will cut the wait time in half (or less) on the rides. You don't have to buy tickets, just show your resort ID card at the gate, your entry ticket, and they'll give you a wrist band to wear, and you're in!

EMH is for every person staying at a Disney resort....imagine people from 18 Disney resorts piling into one park....lines lines and more lines. DH and I are going in May and we don't do EMH because of the lines.

Have fun!

OK...so I was wrong in my thinking. I thought only a certain amount of people got to stay. All Disney Resort guests...no tickets to buy....lines could be long...especially week before Christmas. I may have to replan.

Thanks :earsgirl:

When we were there in July, we decided to do an evening EMH at MGM. It was more crowded than it was during the day! Maybe because not all of the attractions are open, everyone was at RnR or Tot and Fantasmic was sooooooo crowded - we did finally manage to get in though. We decided that night that we would not do any other EMH nights. I think the mornings are a little better - I don't think everyone likes to get up super early on vacation.

Several years ago Disney used to do what was called "E-ride" nights. Where you had to purchase tickets to stay in the park for longer. They got rid of that and now do the EMH. We LOVE EMH. We never had to wait in line to get our wristband. There are usually several places to get them and you can get them a certain amount of time before the park actually closes so you don't have to wait until the park closes to the public to get them. Also, the lines move pretty fast (if there's one at all). They just check to make sure you have a resort ID and then give you a wristband. There were 5 of us and they just checked the first person's and then never checked ours but we all got wristbands (which at other places they did check all of ours). It's a lot of fun because there are hardly any lines to the rides. I recommend you give it a try! :wizard:

i think that it also depends on the time of year that you go. July is really a very busy time for anything. :confused3

We've been to WDW 4 times this past year (going again over Christmas), every time we gave EMH a try. Every time (with the exception of seeing AK at night) has been a disappointment. Still, we'll give it another try come December. I figure we should hit short lines one of these days!

I feel that, stragegy wise, you are always better off getting to any WDW theme park before opening. You can get a lot done in a few hours before the big crowds start arriving.
The evening EMH may be great during off-season, but during peak times you can forget about it. We tried the Studios evening EMH in June and only got to ride TOT with FP. After riding this (just after EMH started) we checked the wait times on the board and they were terrible. Even the next FP for TOT was way into the night.......not worth it so we returned to our resort.

I love the EMH, especially the evening ones. I don't have small children, so it's not a problem to stay late at the parks. I have never been disappointed. I have been during several times of the year, and usually after the fireworks the crowds thin out. At MK, these are the nights I usually tape Spectromagic and the ride everything I want. I went in August, and rode Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain over and over because the the lines were short. You could get off, and get right back on. I went in May (Memorial Day week 05), November (04), and it was the same thing. There are times during the year when EMH's last until 2 a.m. Let's hear it for EMHs, especially for someone like me who never gets enough of Disney. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Amen!!

I did quite a few E-Ticket nights but not an EMH night but I've got to believe it's similar. The only difference I can see from reading this thread is you don't have to pay the $10 they used to charge you for E-Ticket nights.

With that said, E-Ticket nights were the BEST! Almost empty park and very short wait lines. All of the cool stuff was open and there are just no crowds. Even got engaged on an E-Ticket night (with a full moon no less).

I think most people don't know about these kinds of things so it keeps the crowds down. I also think many people don't like being in the parks late. Other than the parades and the fireworks, I think most people wouldn't hang out. That's ok for me since night-time in the park is my favorite time. :earsboy:

I was there in October, and we were sooo glad that we went to the evening EMH at MK. I was nervous about it after reading the boards. We did not spend the rest of the day in the park. We arrived at about 8:30p, made our way up to the hub, watched Wishes, then headed out for rides. We rode Space Mtn 2x, Splash Mtn 2x, Buzz, Big Thunder, Indy Speedway, and we stopped for ice cream. The longest wait was for Indy Speedway. When we were heading back over to Space Mtn for our last ride, we walked by Pooh, there was a cast member standing out front telling everyone that Pooh was a walk on.

On an EMH night, is Wishes at the regular time or is it during the EMH? I'm specifically looking at Jan 15, which is EMH at MK in the pm -- what time is Wishes likely to be? :confused3

Wishes is at 9:00 pm on Jan 15.

FYI, there is a calendar on waltdisneyworld.com that gives the times for parades and fireworks for each day in January (through June of 2006).

Thank you! I never noticed that you could click on individual dates on the hours of operation calendar to get the events times.
