I have never used an e-ticket. I havn't flown since 12/00. Now northwest also has a new terminal at DTW. Any info on how to use the kiosk for the e-ticket and getting around the terminal would be very helpful. We will be staying at the Weston at the terminal. I had read if you stay there they have their own check-in for Weston guest. Has anyone done this. Thank You, Susan

I haven't stayed at the Westin, but I have done e-checkin in the new terminal. There are kiosks everywhere. They give you your boarding pass if you don't have bags to check. If you have to check bags and the Westin doesn't provide the service (I think it does if I recall), the lines are not bad. The new layout is very easy to find your way around. There are monorails to get you close to your gate if your gate is far. Very well done. Security is very fast there also.

Could you explain the e-ticket process. When I made my flight essie on line it said I had an e-ticket. What do I need with me to use the kiosk. I'm a world perks member. I also believe the Weston helps with the luggage check-in. I'm trying the weston for the first time. Previously iv'e done curbside check in and in December it can get pretty cold and sometimes the lines get a little long. Thanks for your help. Susan

Usually any card with your name magnetically encoded on it (virtually any credit card or ATM card) can be swiped. You may have to enter your flight number, it will match your name with your reservation and print out your boarding pass.

E-Ticket check in at the new NWA terminal at DTW is VERY easy. There are 2 areas, one at each end of the lobby area that you can check in at and check your bags. If you are at the Westin, you will enter from the south side into the lobby, right near an e-ticket check in area that is manned by agents. I use my NWA World Perks card to check in. After you swipe your card, follow the prompts on the screen. The agents there tag your luggage and then you walk it over to the screening area where they take it from there.

You then will go through security. One bit of advice here, take OFF your shoes. Right now DTW is one of the major airports that is being very cautious with screening, so plan on arriving EARLY.

The gate area is one mile long and you will enter from the center. There is an elevated tram that goes from one end to the other and has a stop in the middle. There are a lot of shops and places to eat along with a food court and a micro brewery.

If you have some extra time to explore, try going downstairs through the "ice tunnel" that connects to the B and C concourses. It is a real visual experience!

I usually park at one of the off lots like Qwik Park on Merriman Road and take the shuttle in. You can go to their website and print off a coupon for a free day's parking.

I wish SWA was using the new terminal...the one they are in now at DTW is awful!!!

Wow, what good information. I was just checking the weston site and they have 2 e-ticket kiosks in there lobby. They also help with luggage. I think this is the way to go. For people checking in on friday or Saturday, they have a special for room and 7 days parking for 139.00. I'm arriving on Thursday so this special won't apply to my stay. Thanks for all the info, I feel allright now about the e-ticket check in. I hate to fly so anything new to me gets me anxious. Susan
