I have 9 BLT banked points which will expire 1/31/15. I am fairly new to all of this and just realized this when I went to bank 2014 points. Is there anything I can do with these points, I really don't want to loose them. I can't transfer them because I accepted a transfer of points this year. Thanks!!

As far as I know you have the following options:

1. Use them
2. Rent them
3. Roll them into RCI which will give you 2 years to use them (though 9 points will most likely NOT be enough to do anything with).

I'm thinking your best bet is to use them if you can or rent them.

I don't think you can deposit only 9 points in RCI and it wouldn't be worth losing other points doing a larger RCI deposit for the purpose of saving the 9. Renting for a studio that was 9 or less points (or adding other points to it) for a single night is about the only rental option. One could try to use the CC or similar but again, 9 points doesn't go far.

Thanks for the RCI info. Did not know there was a minimum and you're right about it not being worth losing other points for a larger RCI deposit.

With renting the 9 points out, I was just thinking that there may someone who only needs a few points and renting the 9 out is better than losing them altogether, no? (Trying to learn more about the best way to utilize points. Even though we have been members since 2008, up until this year, we have never needed to transfer and such so ultimately, very green around the ears when it comes to these things.)

The problem is that 9 points doesn't do much and since they can't be transferred, the OP would likely have to put other points with those even to rent out one night for all but AKV value for WDW options. About the best they can hope for is to rent a studio for 1 night by adding a point or 2 with it. And since they've likely already banked the 2014 points, they'd have to borrow that as well. Most people wouldn't want to fool with it for just one night so best to find someone that only needs a little more. Even then it's likely that they would have to take a reduced amount. So in the end we're really only talking $50-60 difference unless the OP is willing to rent more.
