My husband and I are making settlement on an OKW resale on March 20,and are very excited but a little confused. On April 1st, we will receive all of the points for 2001,plus the banked points from 2000. Now,here is where the confusion comes in. Our contract states that we have 219 points left from 1999 which must be used by March 31 or they expire. We never expected to do anything with these, but now that settlement is the 20th, do we have time? Would it be possible to book a weekend stay at a concierge hotel in our area? There's no way we can get down to DW over that time period. Should we just give it up as we weren't expecting to use them, anyway.
Thanks for your help! This board is fabulous-part of the reason we decided to buy a resale!

By "settlement", I assume you're referring to the closing on the sale. It will take another few days afterwards for the deed to be recorded and transferred into the DVC computer before you could make any reservation.
The DVC documents state that non-DVC reservations may not be made during the last 60 days of a use year- so you may have no options there. You can certainly call MS and see what might be allowed. The problem is that DVC must be able to use those points to "pay" for any outside reservation. It is doubtful you could find any DVC availability at this late date, but you never know. Good Luck!
