We have a few rider switch passes from our trip in the beginning of December that i found in our park bag. We are going back in January and were wondering if we might be able to use the passes?

Aren't Rider Switch passes given out so that whoever sits with the kids can get on the ride when the other members of your group are done?

I assume you are trying to imply that I am doing something wrong by having rider switch passes in my bag. DH and I have one infant that we travel with and sometimes cant immediately use the pass when DH or I get off because the baby needs a diaper change, bottle, nap, or even to go on a ride she will enjoy. I shouldnt have to explain myself but there it is. Rider switch can be used for parents who have infants either immediately off the ride or at a later time when it is convenient for the family. Thats the way we use it for our family, not to abuse anything. Maybe someone else could answer.

Couldn't you just get new rider swap passes when you go back?

Why not just get new ones?

If you are asking if you can get new ones and use the old ones, then no.

Oh my goodness!!! Yes i can get new ones!! I was asking a question because I found 2 in my bag!! I am sorry I asked!!

I thought they had an expiration date on them. If they don't, how would anyone know they're expired?

I was under the impression that such things are ONLY valid on the day they are issued.

'dates' are not necessary. many venues use color codes or stamps or characters on that day's worth of passes to indicate validity.

They will have an expiration date on then. If it is expire you won't be able to use them if they aren't expired no harm in using them.

The system could change by then for all we know though. Right now they are printing large batches that expire at the end of each month but I've heard once they are out of the paper they are going to figure out a way to add it to the digital system similar to FP+ and DAS with a 24 hour expiration.

I was under the impression that they expired at the end of the issuing month. Maybe check the passes to see if there's an expiration date on them?

Well, I was giving you the benefit of the doubt. That you were not going to try and use old ones and get new ones at the same time. That would be wrong, and you say you are not trying to do anything wrong.

I would try it. Just hand them to the CM. Worst that can happen is they tell you it's expired, you explain the situation, and they can say yes or no. If they're good for an entire month, it should matter if you use them 1 year or 10 years later. What's the difference between riding a week later and 10 months later of whatever? The pass entitled you to 1 fast pass entrance for sitting out with the kid. I don't think you are cheating anyone by using it later.

If OP got them in her/his early Dec. trip wouldn't they expire by the end of Dec. and therefore not be any good for a January trip?

You would be taking unfair advantage of a nice thing Disney does for it's guests. It's people like you who abuse the GAC system by "pretending" to have autism in order to skip the lines. If people start taking unfair advantage of Rider Switch it's only a matter of time before Disney discontinues this needed benefit.

The point of rider switch is for one party to ride and then the person with the baby immediately rides once the first person is done. Not later in the day, not after dinner, but immediately. And definitely not weeks or months later. Disney keeps taking away these park benefits because of the unscrupulous people who abuse the system. They took away our paper FPs, they can take away a lot more.

It's not taking unfair advantage to use something that Disney issues by the printed expiration date. There is no requirement to use them immediately or even the same day (unless they expire that day). If there was such a requirement, the pass (or the CM issuing it) would say so. If they still have the pass it means that someone didn't get to ride before. If they want to wait an hour, a day or a week (subject to the expiration date) it's their choice to do so once they have the pass.

OP -- don't worry too much about some of the reactions here. Just check the expiration date on the pass. If it's still good when you go in January (or if it does not have an expiration date), just go to the FP return line and try it. The worst they can do is say no.

We gave our unused ones away to strangers before leaving the park:flower1:
How kind of you! Back in the legacy fast pass days I used to like standing near attraction lines I had a FP for and giving them to another family if we decided to leave the parks earlier than planned!

I have to agree to disagree on this one. The rider switch pass does not have to be used immediately after. The reason being there may be an ADR or FP+ that the whole group needs to get to, and there is not enough time to wait for them to go through the attraction using the pass (ticket). It happened to us numerous times, and some of them we never used not even later in the day (by the way those were "my" rides/attractions that I never got to experience). So, I gave the passes/tickets away so others could enjoy it (pixie dust)!!

It's been awhile since I've seen a rider swap pass but there should be an expiration listed on the pass. If it's not expired then absolutely you can use them.

I have no issue with that. But I'm pretty sure they don't intend for you to use it on your next trip.
