EXPIRED: Part ONE of 2015 CLUB LEVEL (CL) INFORMATION and HELP Thread DO NOT POST HERE!!!

Speaking of BWV, this is off topic but have any of you guys ever done a cash reservation for a villa before? I've only stayed in one when renting points. Can I put in requests??

I keep wavering as to whether I should upgrade our reservation to SL at the GF. We are a family that knows and loves the benefits of CL, but I always hear such mixed reviews of Sugarloaf. I guess because it is always compared to RPC, which apparently is amazing (but too expensive for this trip). While I would love to do RPC, it's just not possible right now...should I go for SL? How does it compare to the other CL's we've stayed at (YC and WL). Thanks! :goodvibes

I was just discussing Sugarloaf last week with some castmembers at the CR CL. We were ranking the resorts by best CL and everyone ranked SL last. :worried: I've only done RPC so I can't compare but the main complaint about SL seems to be the lack of a real lounge. One of the best benefits of doing CL is having a lounge to sit and have breakfast, or appetizers at night... a place where you can get a break from your room, or even a place to just sit and have a drink. If that's what you are looking for in a club level then I think you will be disappointed with SL. The GF has so many neat room choices. We've done TPV in Conch Key and also we've done a deluxe room in Sago Cay... we loved both of those. I would make a list of what the most important aspects of your room are: view, location, size, etc, and then weigh that against the benefits of IPO and snacks. It's a tough decision I know!

You should be able to make requests on any reservation with the noted "Not Guaranteed" of course.;)

Staying at WL 5/10-5/17, our first time at WL and also our first time staying club level! I've read you can see a partial view of Wishes from some of the rooms. Does anyone know what room request I could put in that might get me that view? Decided to do this trip last minute. Usually I plan for months!

I would recommend asking for North Wing with a Wishes/Woods view. I want to say around room 7052 is where we stayed and had a wishes view. If you ask over on the Wilderness Lodge page, I am sure they can give you the range of room numbers.

Thanks for the insight! I know a lot of people complain about the "lounge" being in the lobby basically. I like having a separate room/area for the lounge that is not a main thruway so to speak. Oh, if only RPC were in the cards....:cloud9:

Hello CL Fans! First, Erika, so enjoyed your live trip report and felt the same about CR CL as you did - enjoyed it so much more than we ever expected! Really appreciate the thoughts regarding SL vs. RPC. We're planning to book RPC for January and your comments are helpful in confirming our choice!

So with our Poly CL stay earlier this week, we've stayed CL at four resorts so far: BC and BWI multiple times, CR and Poly once each. Our oldest son (age 14) LOVED CL at Poly. He loves CL everywhere, but Poly is his favorite so far. The rest of us enjoyed it, but I understand many of the comments others have posted.

Food. First, the food was fantastic. One night was sushi, tuna and a really wonderful salad, among the typical cheese and fruit offerings. The alcoholic punch was tasty, but I only had a 1/4 cup to try it. Too sweet for me, so back to red wine! The second night was not as great - lots of fried foods. Breakfast was similar to other CLs, but I really missed the hard boiled eggs that BC and BWI offer. Seemed like a few more afternoon snacks than we've seen in other CLs (maybe similar to CR, more than BC and BWI.)

View. The view from the lounge is wonderful and we really enjoyed the opportunity to see Wishes, as we're typically not in MK in the evening. We were able to see Illuminations, catch the monorail back to Poly and watch Wishes from the lounge - yay!

Location. The proximity of the lounge to the pool is wonderful! Just loved being so close to the pool (we usually are because we've been staying in Samoa for several visits in a row) and having the club lounge right there. Many (and I repeat, many) guests requested beer and wine with plastic cups to take beverages out to the pool. It seemed like the CL CMs didn't mind at all (even when one guests requested four beers) so I asked for one and it was nice to take it out to the pool so easily.

Atmosphere. Great music piped into the lounge and loved the two-story set up. They definitely need more space than the lower level, so I appreciated the upper level as an additional option. The lounge definitely had a more laid back feeling. Our oldest son loved that, and I was OK with it. Lots of bare feet and shirtless guys in the lounge at all times of day, including evening appetizers, which was very different from our other CL experiences. Nobody was the least bit rude and while the line for evening appetizers was long, we didn't see anyone taking large amounts. We never saw anything run out and not be replenished. Because it was a busy lounge, it didn't seem like as much of a retreat from the parks like other CLs. I did miss that quiet atmosphere.

CMs. We thought CMs at Poly CL were friendly, but they were definitely busy with tasks and other guests. So it's not like BWI where they are always greeting you walking in and have time to chat a little. Some guests might like that, but I did miss the connections we developed staying CL at other resorts.

All in all, we had a GREAT stay and will definitely return when the construction concludes. We'll definitely continue to split stays between the MK area and the Epcot resort area. Poly CL/BWI CL will probably be our preferred split for future stays. BWI CL is still my favorite CL so far, even though it doesn't offer the amazing views that CR or Poly do. The overall atmosphere at BWI still wins for me. (Although we'll see what happens after we try GF RPC in January!)

So glad you had a wonderful cruise time. What specifics with the room were you thinking you were to receive as perks that you did not? Hope things haven't changed since I was at YC last summer....

Specifics to about the room. We got off of the bus from the port at around 945 am. I gave my bags to the bell services, was given a claim check for the bags. I was told multiple times that my bags would be in the room when we came back from the parks. We went to the 12th floor and my wife and daughter ate some of the breakfast that was still being offered. I sat though the little presentation from the host, thanking me so much for booking CL level. Once again, I was told that my baggage would be ready in my room when we returned. I was given a packet of information that stated all kinds of stuff that we were promised, turn down service, friendly staff. I was told that I would get a text message when the room was ready. So we went to Animal Kingdom and had a great day at the park.

Upon returning back from AK, I had to track down the CL host to see where my room was. Their initial response was "Don't know, who the hell are you?" When I told them my name, the host was snotty and mumbled my room number. When I asked which direction was that, she just pointed and grunted that way.

When I finally made it to my room, I noticed that my baggage was not in the room. When I called bell services, to inquire where my bags were they said, don't know...where ya leave them? When I explained to them that I hand delivered my bags to bell services, I was told hastily that it takes up to 2 hours for the bags to be delivered. When I told the person on the phone that I understand that but my bags were hand delivered at 945 this morning, they said well we don't deliver bags without someone in the room. I asked for them to be delivered now, I was told, "it can take up to several hours" I went down stairs with my claim ticket and recovered my own bags.

After I got the bags to the room, my family decided to hit downtown Disney. When we got back to the resort my wife's band did not work on the elevator nor the room door. I called to ask about that and the clerk downstairs stated to bring it downstairs to the lobby and they would look at it. I also noticed that the room alarm clock was an hour off.

So I go downstairs and after an hour, I was told that neither band worked. When I asked how that was possible they told me that none of my bands were registered. Now how can that be possible if I spent the day at the park, used the dining plan from the bands, and used my bands to purchase items at Disney stores in downtown Disney? I was told dunno... So after an hour, I was escorted back upstairs by management because they were in possession of the magic bands. They told me to come downstairs at 7 am to pick them back up. As I was being escorted upstairs, I told them about the alarm clock. I was told it would taken care of tomorrow.

I was down at the lobby at 645 and there were no bands. After getting unnecessary lip service from the downstairs CL host and some of the CM's I asked to speak to a manager. The supervisor stated that they would have to cancel my current reservation and rebook my reservation. Once again, I was escorted back to my room by management because my bands didn't work. I had a 730 reservation at Chef Mickey's and I was told that the bands would be in my possession by the time that I went to breakfast. It was now 715.

So as we walk out to breakfast, I see the supervisor walking towards my room. She said here is my bands they are to be working well now. I explained my frustrations to the supervisor and I asked to be compensated for the issues last night and plus with the fact that I wasn't able to sleep because I was worried about giving hotel staff my magic bands that had all of my info on the bands. She said that she would work on that for me.

While at breakfast, She called while eating breakfast and told me that I needed to stop by and reset my PIN number because the old PIN number was associated with the old reservation number. I go to the CL host on the 12th floor and I was told that I didn't need to do that. I get back to my room and the host called me to tell me that she sees the new reservation and that I do need to change the number.

We spend a great day at Magic Kingdom. We get back to the room and my anger level explodes. My room was trashed, it had not been cleaned. The only thing that had been done was my beds made and the clock was still an hour off.

Call to management again. I had a hotel manger show up to the room and saw the condition of the room. All he said was I am sorry this is unacceptable and left.

Saturday, we get up and we were stopped by the host and was told that the room would be cleaned properly by the time we came back this afternoon. We got back to the room around 130 pm and it was in worse condition than what we left that morning. There was debris on the floor that looked like popcorn, I had to look to see if I was in the right room. The ice bucket had water still in it, but they placed a new plastic bag over the lid. Management call #3.

I showed the housekeeping manager the condition of the room. Again, I was told that this is unacceptable for any resort. I asked about the turndown service, and I was told that I was to have gotten it. When I said that I never received any turndown service, no chocolates, no animal designs, I am sorry its unacceptable. But the best thing is that they finally fixed the clock, only complaining about it for 3 days. My wife was trying to take a nap and they want to do a "full cleaning" right there. I told them to leave and to come back at 5 pm.

Came back at 930, and while the room looked good, no turndown service. again, I called the management. I was offered the park tickets as a peace offering.

Sunday morning, I noticed black mold growing on the walls of the bathroom and shower region. at that point, I took my bags downstairs and checked out.

I have stayed at many resorts at Disney before and all of them had been great except for the one incident at Coronado Springs, but the staff at the Contemporary fell way below of even coming close to making the problems of the housekeeping a fixable issue.

Like I said before, I went on a Disney Cruise on the Dream on the CL. It was simply amazing. I wished that I went to the parks before I went on the cruise so I wouldn't have thought that staying on CL at the parks were anything but magical.

If the CL host took a lesson from the CL Host from the cruise lines, maybe more people would have a better time at the parks.

I would rank BWI CL higher if they would put a secret entrance from the boardwalk that goes directly to the lounge!!!! :rotfl: Ha ha! ;)

I am so sorry you had so many problems on your vacation. :( I always hate to read about things going wrong. Disney is supposed to be a magical and fun vacation, not a time to experience trouble. :(

In over 50 trips to WDW my luggage has never been waiting for me in my room. I always have to call bell services from my room to request it be sent up. Usually they just ask for the last name, sometimes they'll ask for the claim ticket number. I don't know why the CM told you that. I'm pretty sure they have a policy that luggage has to be delivered to a person. That way a guest can't claim bags are missing or weren't delivered, etc.

As for the magic bands I can totally feel your pain on that. When we checked in at the BC in January our bands wouldn't open our room, and we had used them at the parks that day, I knew they were active, but they just wouldn't work on the door. Unfortunately these glitchy things can happen with technology. They took all our bands to "work on them" and that did make me very nervous. When we checked in to BC CL last week the CL CM walked us to our room door and had us tap each band and open the door one at a time to make sure they worked. I'm sure they've had issues with lots of guests whose bands don't open the door. This year is going to be a real growing experience for magic bands in general, there are so many things that need to be streamlined with FP+, and now that day guests are going to have bands it's going to change the game again.

I'm really surprised the CMs were so rude to you. Last week we found the CR CL castmembers to be very nice for the most part. We did encounter one grumpy girl who was working in the lounge, but other than that the people working the desk were nice enough. We didn't have any problems though, so maybe that's why.

Our room was cleaned correctly every day and we had turn down with chocolates every night. We were in 4807 on the lake side, I wonder if we had the same mousekeepers you had? I noticed across the hall there were different carts working, so maybe I lucked out and got the good ones. As for towel animals, they are rare these days. We haven't had any in probably 2 years. I just can't even understand how your room got trashed? Popcorn on the floor? Like strangers had been in there? That would really freak me out. :scared1: Were we there on the same days? We stayed 3 nights, 3/28-3/31. I've had housekeeping issues at other resorts from time to time, but actually didn't have any problems at all last week.

After that nightmare you'll probably never go back to WDW again! :worried: That's just terrible bad luck. :(

I wondered if I had a chance of maybe getting a view upgrade since it's a cash reservation?? Maybe??? :scratchin :goodvibes

Erika you always have such a nice way with words! :)

I am with Erika. I have never had a major issue at WDW though I DID Have miscommunication from the booking agent CMs on various things - like if you stay club level you get free dry cleaning, I remember hat one clearly!

. Last summer I did a two night stay before YC and stayed at OKW and that was a complete nightmare with the bands. Had to switch them every day b/c they wouldn't work on the door yet worked at parks fine. And let me tell you, hiking from OKW room all the way to the main hospitality center is a 20 minute ordeal each way. VERY ANOYING but I guess b/c I have worked in both the technical and customer end of businesses I understand the front line people are just as frustrated as the customer...But in all my Disney stays I can think of ONCE where turndown service was forgotten and I can't think of one time where the room was forgotten to be made up....Bad luck for sure! Sorry it happened o you!!!!!

Wow jcota! It sounds like a lot of things went wrong with your stay. :scared1: Sorry that happened to you!

They really said "don't know, who the hell are you??" Like, actual words? Honestly, that would probably make me cry (and I'm usually pretty tough) but that is completely unnecessary and unprofessional. Certainly not magical. :confused3

Hi All -
Thinking of upgrading our May trip to AKL CL - anyone have experience with it? What room requests would we want to make?

Thanks!

Hi All - Thinking of upgrading our May trip to AKL CL - anyone have experience with it? What room requests would we want to make? Thanks!

We stayed in 2010. Our only complaint was that the rooms are on the fourth floor, and the lounge on the sixth. I understand the reason for this is that the fourth floor is optimum savannah viewing, and for this reason, we were ok with it. The lounge is lovely, with a stunning view of the lobby, especially at night. Food offerings were good and plentiful, and the staff was delightful. If you don't mind being a wee distance from the lounge, I'd say go for it!

Do they have hot chocolate available? Staying WL CL in July, and the kids really like hot chocolate as a treat. :-)

There is a hot chocolate selection on the coffee machine - #9. This is an older photo, there is only one machine now:

ETA: There is also a jar of mini marshmallows next to the coffeemaker:)

All of the CLs we've stayed at (BW, GF, Poly, CR) have either had it in the Nescafe machines or packets to mix with hot water (or both).
