I am wasteful when it comes to milk. Once that expiration date hits, out it goes. I will not be the one to taste it and neither will my DS to see if it is ok and milk always smells bad in the carton, even if it is still good. My sister makes fun of me by saying "Does the milk know that it is the day after the expiration date and automatically go bad ?" I say it just very well may and I'm not taking any chances. HA! HA!

Actually with milk that is a sell by date. Again it depends on who processes it as to how long it will last. I have lots of milk go completely rotten way before the sell by date.
