Expired Fastpass

Fastpasses DO NOT expire. I have spoken with a family member who is in upper management at WDW. Again, they DO NOT expire. If you have a problem, politely ask for a supervisor. Many ride operators do not know this policy and it never came up during training. Apparently, this is becoming an issue and new cast members are being spcifically trained on this. Did I mention that Fastpasses DO NOT expire.

I know that I had a CM tell me that they did not expire.

Fastpasses DO NOT expire.
Bogus! If they didn't expire; they would not have a beginning and end time. People like to make up policies to make themselves feel batter about things.

I'm sure you have. The fast passes still have a beginning and ending time.
Again, they DO NOT expire.
Say it as many times as it takes to make you feel better about it.

Did I mention that if fast passes expired; they would not have a start and end time on them? Ask your 'family' member to explain this thought process to us please. I have money that says they can't. Until the end time is taken off of the fast passes; they technically expire. There will always be CM's that will allow expired fast passes.

We are in Disney now. At EE Saturday, they checked the FP twice. And they were looking at the time. Seemed like they were enforcing the rule.

I was under the impression that it didn't matter when you returned with a fastpass, as long is it was after the time on the card. I have returned to rides multiple times after the indicated time and I've never had any troubles from any CMs when going onto the rides. :confused3

There is an hour time on the fast pass that tells you when you are supposed to come back. It is your own fault if you miss the time. What would be the point of the fast pass if people are coming back whenever they feel like it. Why can't we all just listen to directions.

I didn't know I would start a heated debate. I just wanted to see if other people had similar situations. I know what it says, but I also know what reality is. I know I was in the wrong, so I walked away without saying anything. The standby line was only 20 mins (it said 40 mins), so no big deal.

They say it right on the fastpass.
"Enter Any time BETWEEN ...your time and your time"

and right now the back:

I've never been able to not use an expired Fast Pass. I always try and use them as close as possible to the time, but there are times when I've had a FP for Pooh, and I'm over in Frontierland, or whatever.

Oh I know. I mean I have heard stories of people trying to use them over a year old (naughty) and just trying to scam the system all to save 20 min. All in fun.

I'd like to point out that the FP only says that they cannot accept early arrivals. It does not say that they cannot accept late arrivals...just that it must be used on the date printed on the ticket.

Does anyone really think this verbiage is accidental? How difficult would it be to simply state "Cannot accept early or late arrivals"? The fact that it does not state that is instructive...and undoubtedly intentional.

Now, it does ask that you "please" return within the window...so I'm sure for spreading out the guests they'd prefer that you adhere to the window...but it is not a command and they expressly do not prohibit a late return on the same day.

We had been warned by friends that Soarin' wouldn't take late returns. I think its a matter of the parks having a control in place if they should need it. We all know we'll probably get in late, but we aren't allowed more than a moment's disappointment if they turn us away, and totally NOT OK to get surly.

And for the PP who thinks saying Please means its not still a rule - quit talking to my kids!!! They like to think if I use manners, it means they have an option. NO, sorry, "please clean your room now" means exactly the same thing as "clean your room now". Its just more polite, and gentle on the ears.

Read the fastpass. It gives you a valid time period.

Yes, you may get to use an expired fast pass but you are not necessarily entitiled to use it. (If everyone did this it defeats the whole purpose of spreading out the crowds) I have heard of several folks being denied at Soarin' for example.

Soarin is the only ride that I made 100% sure to make sure we got there between the times on the fast pass just because I know how back up that ride gets in the afternoon and I am sure they would not allow late returners. Never been denied anywhere else for a fast pass used on the same day but later than the return time. But it may be a new thing since like has been stated it does defeat the purpose of the fast pass process.

I have honestly never tried to use an expired fastpass, but my friend who goes twice a year does it all of the time with no issues.

Excellently elocuted. The "window" is to keep things moving along at a nice pace... and I have a feeling it's there for the people who aren't going to know any better (ie. that late fastpasses are acceptable) as Disney banks on those people to make it possible for them to make late Fastpasses a part of their policy, you know?

But that does not change the fact that I've read time and time and time again from CM's and other people with close and reliable Disney information sources that the "official" Disney policy is to accept late fastpasses barring extenuating circumstances. It's about doing what they can to accomodate as many people as possible. Of course, it's never a guest's right to ARGUE about those extenuating circumstances. It is not uncommon for CM's to be unaware of this "policy", though, which is why it never hurts to ask them if they are aware that its Disney policy to honor late fastpasses barring extenuating circumstances.

I have used countless late Fastpasses and only once was I asked to come back later with it because the Fastpass line as too long.

This is an excellant point.

It is Disney's policy to accept late Fast Passes.

You can't get water from a stone... Let as many people think it's NOT their policy as possible! For as long as Disney keeps LEADING people to believe that Fastpasses expire, they will continue to have the unadvertised POLICY that they do not! :thumbsup2

And I, on several different trips over the past two years (last time was Dec. '06), have personally used "expired" Fast Passes on Soarin' in the afternoon, when it was busy.

I did not COUNT on being able to do this, I would not have been upset if they were refused, but I did get to use them every time I had them.

I would agree that normally Soarin', Expedition Everest and Test Track (in that order) would be the most likely to refuse an "expired" FP due to over-crowding.
