EXPIRED - Direct Sales Incentives - Summer 2020 - Expanded list!

What's your opinion on these incentives? Do you think this is a better deal than you can typically get or could we see better when this expires since shutdowns are hurting sales? I want to add on some direct points but am not in a rush.

If you look at historical prices for AUL at 150 points, these incentives are basically rolling back to may 2016 prices. So AUL and RVA are probably pretty strong values but the CCV is less so.

Hoping I can get some help, as I've been looking into purchasing DVC for the past while but haven't done so yet... It seems the more information I research the more complicated it gets:) Ideally, I'd like to purchase a monorail resort however, the prices for those direct are too high for me. I was considering buying 100pts SSR direct for the blue card and then picking up a resale contract to be on the monorail. I just saw the new incentives on Riviera and I'm now considering purchasing 200pts from Riviera direct with the hopes of being able to book the monorail resorts at the 7 month mark. Alternatively, would it be more economical to purchase a small resale contract and then purchase Riviera, as it seems the incentives for existing DVC members are better?

If you bought a resale contract today, you probably wouldn't be a member in time to get the current incentives before they expire (9/16), the process is slower than usual right now.

But yes, buying direct then resale probably makes the most sense if you want the blue card benefits. That also makes it much easier to get the same use year for both contracts, which will make your life easier.

Thank you! I didn't know that it takes that long to close on a resale contract:(

I bought resale before the blue card restrictions, but have dabbled with buying direct over the years. I would say if you want monorail look at getting a deal on a resale and try DVC out for a bit before committing to buying direct points (unless you are looking to buy 300 points right away and want to split them over resale/direct). It really depends what you are looking for and how much the blue card means to you.

I’ve stayed at a few of the studios and found them a bit tight for my family. We stayed in a one bedroom villa and I find it hard to go back😊 I only want the blue card for the discounts on food/merchandise and the ability to book at future DVC resorts. Do you think it is better to buy resale now and hope that the direct incentives will get better in the near future?

Those were my thoughts. That is why I have:

200 x BLT resale
200 x BLT resale
155 x BLT direct

Allows for perks, booking at RVA and any future resorts.I tend to go every other year.

That would be my goal:) I‘m trying to get the points in the most economical way but it seems the longer I wait the more expensive it gets:( as of now, with the direct incentives I can get 200pts Riviera at about 170 per point and then I was hoping to look for a good price on a resale contract. I’m just worried about the resale restrictions on RIV and the high annual dues?

Thats why I didn't buy RVA.

For best value points I would look at this article:

I just got two emails today from DVC- one is titled "One of our best offers for your family!" and the other one, sent about 3 hours before, is titled "One of our best offers=more magic for you". I knew about incentives from this thread already and didn't pay much attention to the emails-are they just now sending them out or is this a different promo of some sort? I am so confused!

ETA: the first one has a savings advertised as "$5000 or more" and the second has "$3750 or more"

I got the same email. At least in the email I got, they are the same incentives that were already in this thread.

Are there always existing member discounts? I’m guessing not. We are trying to get a resale deal in under the wire to use that for the RIV incentive but I’m not terribly optimistic it will happen. When the current deals expire (add on or new member) are new ones usually available almost immediately or do you have to wait a week or two?

Is there any chance if we spoke to a dvc sales rep they could get us in on the current deal if we’ve passed ROFR and estoppel?

Usually there are. The Member discounts are usually better discounts too.

The $5000 on i think if for new members the discounts start at higher point thresholds. The $3750 is the member offers at lower point thresholds i think.

You could always pay direct on a credit card and spread out payments. If you had the Disney Visa, they’d let you pay over 2-4 billing cycle and each would get 0% financing for 6 months. It’s one way of delaying having to pay for that direct purchase while you sell the other contract.

Thanks for the response. Perhaps I didn’t explain it well. We are trying to buy a resale deal to take advantage of the lower $/pt for existing DVC members.

If we aren’t members by sept 16 we either do the new member pricing, roll the dice on the next deal being as good or better...or try to talk DVC into getting us the existing member pricing though it may not be a 100% completed transaction on their end.

If these type of existing member discounts are commonplace that might have some weight in the decision.

Has your contract been sent to ROFR yet?

Usually there are. The Member discounts are usually better discounts too.

Thank you- good to know! We thought we acted fast enough to likely get the resale deal completed in time. Then I read the ROFR and closing time thread and now I’m not so sure.
