We've been to Disney before and had great experiences. My DS11 has severe peanut/tree nut allergies. anyone been to one of these restraunts with peanut/tree nut allergies:

Tutto Italia
Via Napoli
CRT
Teppan Edo
Yak and Yeti
50's Prime time
Kona Cafe
Coral Reef
Le Cellier

Any good or poor experiences at these places? I'm always worried about desserts for him since most seem to contain nuts and we don't really eat desserts at home. It is a "special" treat to get desserts at Disney and he looks forward to them!

did not eat at any of your chioces but watch the breads as we found a number of rolls and breads made with peanut oil. in fact, found more breads than desserts with peanut oil than desserts with nuts. with each ressie because of note of peanut allergy, chef came to table and talked to child's mother. all were very nice to us. our main problem with one ressie had to do with party size not allergy.

We ate at Teppan Edo with a peanut allergy and it was fine...turns out they don't use peanuts in anything. I will say though that their dessert menu is fairly limited and we usually get dessert somewhere else.

We've dined at Coral Reef and Teppan Edo with our pn/tn allergic kids without any problems. Teppan Edo does not use any peanuts, tree nuts, or their oils in the cooking process on the grills, but the desserts were not safe, because of cross-contamination concerns. Most of the desserts aren't prepared in the individual restaurants, but at a central bakery. Some even come from 3rd party vendors. You'll be warned that most of them aren't safe, but some places offer decent alternatives. Some places had safe ice cream and some didn't. Coral Reef was the best, because my daughter was able to order The Wave. My kids could also get hot fudge sundaes with Mickey sprinkles at Sci-Fi. Every other table service offered either plain ice cream or a fruit cup for dessert. The buffets gave them Divvies cookies, gluten-free brownies and gummies.

Breads also come with cross-contamination warnings, not because they use peanut oil (they don't). Sandwich buns and breads are o.k. Coral Reef and Biergarten were the only two restaurants that the chefs said the breads were safe.

Be sure to contact Special Diets, so the allergies can be linked with your ADRs. You'll also received some lists of common food items at snack and CS places with allergens listed. The chefs should come to your table before you order to go over safe options. Make sure you mention the allergy to your server. Sometimes they don't notice the warning on your ticket.

My DD11 has tree nut/coconut allergies (not peanut though). We ate at Coral Reef which was by far one of our favorite restaurants! She had the NY strip steak, salad and chocolate wave for dessert. Seriously one of the best meals of our entire trip.

Yak & Yeti was just ok. We explained to the chef about her allergies and he said he'd make her a safe meal. But when her dessert came out, the sorbet was sprinkled with coconut. He apologized but that was enough to make DD nervous so she passed on his other dessert.

Kona cafe was amazing! We did both breakfast and lunch here. Her meals were totally safe. I can't recall what she ate though.

I agree with the previous poster about the breads. We were told at every table service that the breads were off limits due to the potential for cross contamination. She was able to have the tapioca rolls though.

Dessert wise, she was offered lots of ice cream sundaes, GF brownies, Divvies cookies, and sorbet. I recall that the creme brulee was off limits due to possible CC.

Disney is phenomenal with food allergies! Like the previous poster suggested, be sure to contact special diets. Each time we checked in, the server saw our noted food allergies and sent the chef out to talk with us. Good luck!:goodvibes

We have had alot of good experiences at WDW with our son, 4, who has a peanut/tree nut allergy. Chefs are always very helpful and accomodating. Just be careful with places that scoop hard-packed ice cream. They need to use a clean, non cross-contaminated scooper/ or seperate shake machine. We haven't had issues at Disney with this, but often dining out at home. Overall, we have eaten at many Disney restaurants and haven't had any issues.... yet(knock on wood)!
