We are now flying to WDW instead of driving and I need to know how the Magic Express works, is it a good thing or should we just rent a car? I would like to hear the good and bad.

Thanks in advance!!

Hi,

If you do a search over on the transportation board, you'll find lots of threads and plenty of opinions!

When you arrive at the airport you go to the magical express counter. There was a line it went fairly quickly. You give them your info and then stand in line to wait on the bus to take you to your hotel. Once at your hotel you go ahead and check in and your luggage arrives later. We were there 1/2-1/5 at the GF. It took 5-6 hours for our luggage to arrive. So take a small travel bag with you if you want to change into swimsuits, need to brush your teeth, etc. It worked fine just the delay in getting luggage was a little long.

We used it in Dec. Of course, Pop Warner was going on (cheerleaders), so once we got to the airport, we were lucky that we weren't in the same line/bus with the value resorts, because the lines with the cheerleaders was LONG. We stayed at the Polynesian, and there was a total of about 10 of us on the bus, this is a big tour bus, actually has Disney Cruise Line on the side. This bus was for Poly, Contemp, and Grand Floridian.

It didn't take too long, of course, I was bursting with anticipation on getting to the park! I guess from touch down with the airplane, to check in counter at resort, was about 1 1/2 hours at the most. Of course, it takes about 30 minutes for the ride on the bus. The bus dropped off GF guests first. Then us.

We were impressed with the service. It was so nice to be picked up and not deal with luggage. I agree that it is best to take a small bag if you want to freshen up or use the pool.

:thumbsup2 My only regret about using the ME service is that you are usually required to leave the resort about 3 hours prior to when your flight departs!

DME is a great service. We had no problems whatsoever even though we checked in and out on 2 of the busiest days of the whole year. I hope that they continue this service. Even if it is no longer free, it would still be worth it.

We have used this twice. Both times with late arrivals into MCO (8p or so) and both times didnt get luggage until 2a (yes they delivered it at that time) and 11p. Short bus ride 20-30 minutes to resort. If just using WDW no need at all for a car.

Oh, bus driver has hand out for tips at end--usually not shy about it.

Sorry, because this has probably been asked elsewhere, but do you need to wait in your room for the luggage to come or will they leave it in the room for you (or hold it somewhere for you to pick up?)

ME is great. Both times I used it I was on the bus within 15 mins from the aircraft door opening (sitting in first class). On the bus, never waited more than 5 mins then we were off to the resort. Made it to Pop and Port Orleans in 25 mins or less (1st stop both times). Checked in (rooms were ready) and then took a Disney bus to park (One time we got in @ 2am...no park bus that early :teeth: ) and was on TTA with 90mins from stepping off aircraft.

No need to sit around and wait. They will drop it off at your room for you if you aren't there. If you get in late, you can tell front desk to have them deliver at a later time. Both times I used it we had carryons only.

We used it this past January for the first time and it was really a great service. We checked in at their counter and loaded the bus within ten minutes (line was short) and the bus ride to DW is about 25 minutes. We checked into our hotel, went to our room and then got ready to go. That was about 4p.m. and by the time we were back from MK at 9p.m. our luggage was already there. Worked out great for us! On the way back, they picked up our luggage from our room, we checked into our airline, got our carryons put in storage and went to MK and Epcot until we had to be back.
