We are leaving for a relatively short trip in three days next week to celebrate my son's 5th birthday:cool1:

We will be staying at the Polynesian for 4 nights and wanted this to be a relatively relaxed trip (for us...lol-ie we are only going to do MK and Epcot and one of the water parks tbd)

We have reservations for Ohana one night but I'm having reservations about the food (and our ressie time-8ish)...we usually try to eat 6ish when we are eating out with our children. Since we are staying at the Poly, Narcoossee would be easy to get to on the monorail and we could even walk back.

I'm not a big buffet/family style person-I won't refuse to do them (and I'd make an exception for Boma;)
and since we're already doing some of those:

Tues-arrive/check in or leave luggage at Poly-head to MK
lunch-LTT
dinner-Ohana's or Narcoossee's :confused3

Wed.-MK
breakfast-Kona
lunch-CS
dinner-LTT character dining for son's bd dinner with Goofy cake...:yay:

Thurs.-BB or Typhoon Lagoon
Breakfast-Ohana
Lunch-CS
Dinner-California Grill :flower3:

Fri.-Epcot
Breakfast-CS
Lunch-Coral Reef (BD lunch w/diver & menu) :cheer2:
Dinner-Kona Cafe

Sat.-MK morning, then go home,,,,:sad1:
Breakfast-CS
Lunch-Plaza

We like to eat well but I also enjoy the character meals even when the food isn't gourmet (as long as its tasty and just not downright bad)

So is Narcoossee's good-has anyone eaten there recently....will I be sad if we miss the goings on at Ohanas (the entertainment part sounds cute...

Not sure what to do.....:confused3

My husband and I ate at Narccoosse's Oct '06 and loved it! :thumbsup2
It was an excellent meal. Dh had muscles for the appetizer and lobster for dinner. I had the crab cake and surf and turf.........delicious. We loved the butter seasoning the muscles were in, meat was nice and tender....I wish I could have it for dinner now, I'm starving;) We had a 5:30 ADR and got to sit by the window. We ordered a bottle of wine and just enjoyed the atmosphere. Dessert was delicious too. Dh had the cheesecake and I had the chocolate cake, again really good. I had no complaints about this dinner. Our waiter (can't remember his name) was really good, friendly.
Personally I would choose Narcoosee's. We always like to dine at one signature restaurant on our vacation.
Enjoy:goodvibes

I haven't waved my pom pom's about Narcoossee's recently :cheer2: :cheer2:

So there you go! DH, DS6 and I had a 6pm ADR on our last night in October, and it was great. It is pretty pricey, not sure if you are on DDP or not (it's 2 credits) however we all loved it. DH had a fantastic appetizer (calamari, and there was loads of it) and a huge lobster for his entree. For some reason I have no idea what I had, but I did enjoy it!! The staff were friendly. We shall be going again this October.

I haven't tried 'Ohana's for dinner, so I can't compare.

If I had to choose only one, it would be Narcoosees. I do like Ohana a lot, but Narcoosees is a signature restaurant, so the food is higher quality. (and the wine, lol) We usually dine at both each trip, so you know we like them both!

We always enjoy walking to and from Narcoosees from the Polynesian too.

I would make the ressie for Narcoosees, then if you get there and decide you would rather go to Ohana, you may be able to walk up early with just 4 people next week. NOTE! I would not recommend that another time of year, but next week you may be OK. (Also, if you do that, be sure to cancel the Narcoosees ressie.) Really, you can't go wrong with either one, your kids will love Ohana, but the food is really good at Narcoosees.

We did not enjoy Ohana's the last couple time we went. Bad, dry food, horrible service, rude podium person.

That being said, your son would most likely enjoy the atmosphere at 'Ohana's better. More child friendly.

We took all three of our kids (ages 7,8,10) to Narcoosee for MY birthday dinner in February. They loved it! There were lots of kids in there - you'd be surprised. The food is DELICIOUS and the view is just beautiful.

You are doing a lot of eating at the Poly, and IMO this would be a nice change. We enjoyed this meal much better than our meal at the CG two nights later. We've eaten at CG several times in the past and this was our least favorite experience.

If the primary reason for going is to entertain your son, then O'hana would be best. For good food, Narcoossee's is much better.

Thanks for the feedback-I do believe we are going to try Narcoossee's-we got a 6:20 ressie and the menu looks lovely and definately more gourmand-(love seafood..:thumbsup2 ) Funny, I don't read a lot about Narcoossees on the boards....:confused3

It is very conveniently located for us-just one hop away on the Monorail and we've never been there and like to mix things up a bit and after all we are already doing two character meals and just being at Disney is entertaining...sometimes a little down time is nice too.....:goodvibes

Thanks again-will write a trip/food report when back....:hourglass

Yeah 2 more days.....:yay:

We loved narcoossee's... and the view is fantastic. great castle and water view!

I want to try Narcoossee's too. The view looks great from pictures. I also haven't heard much about it on the boards but it seems like its starting to get a little more popular lately.
