Ok, DH suprised the heck out of me and suggested we visit Disney in October.....

We have only been there the week following Thanksgiving for several years and once we went the first full week in May.

So, I have no idea what to expect in October. When is the best time to go? I know that Halloween week and Columus week is busy. I am also aware that there are usually a lot of conventions in the area during the month.

When would you suggest would be the best time to go in Oct? We are so used to the cool temps and low Crowds in early December.....PLEASE HELP!

Weather is perfect, it is a bit crowded, but very reasonable. We waited less than 15-20 minutes per ride and walked on lots of them.

It is my favorite time to visit, mostly because of the weather (high 70's and not so humid) and the lower than summer crowds. I also love the Halloween theming and MNSSHP.

You may have answered your own question. Go after Columbus Day/Fall Break and before Halloween. The weather will be dry and sunny. It's not as cool as December but there are some crowds for the Epcot Food and Wine. However, conventioneers and golf fans and adult connoisseurs, in general, don't stand in line for Splash Mountain and Dumbo. When school is in session, that's the time to go to Disney! ::yes:: :sunny:

I went for the first time as an adult this past October- from Oct 20-27. I would go again that timeframe in a heart beat.

Weather was fabulous- low humidity and in the 80s- great for swimming and just feeling warm without melting. Shorts and no sleeves were perfect.

Crowds were minimal. That I saw at AK was 20 min for Kali River Rapids and at MK was 60 min to meet Ariel. We walked onto most rides and did so multiple times. Yes, there are conventions and we were there during some golf tournament but like the above poster said- they are else where. The lines at Epcot in WS were deep (maybe 12-20 deep for some of the more popular foods) for the Food and Wine booths- but didn't seem too bad.

We attended MNSSHP on Sunday (10/26) and it was excellent! Halloween night usually gets sold out and the Friday dates are usually busy but Sunday was great. Again not crowded at all- walked onto rides and had a space on Main Street for Fireworks with a good 10 feet between me and the next person. Much more spacious than the Sat 'Wishes' show which was shoulder to shoulder on Main Street.

Happy planning!

We are also looking at October for our next trip. Sounds great! We want to do the water parks (much to cold this past Jan!) and would like to do the Halloween party.

We went the last week of October 2002 and it wasn't bad at all. We even attended MNSSHP on Halloween night and the only lines we had were for the candy. My DGD isn't a candy nut so she skipped the candy stations that had a long line and still got candy. There were no lines at the rides to speak of. We rode the biggies several times each! We got to MK early on a Saturday morning (our first day) and had the place practically to ourselves.

Thank you all so much for the great info. You made the decision that I was stressing over so simple!
