Is Dollar Express worthwhile? It sounds as if things are expediated when you rent, but I would like to have some first class experience especially at MCO.

We've used several of the rental car companies at Orlando International Airport and find that Dollar Express is the most convenient rental car service at the airport. You bypass the counter in the airport and go directly to the garage. Your car will be waiting for you right next to the Dollar Express booth in the garage. It really is a time saver.

Thanks for the input. Sounds like something that would definitely be beneficial. I think you probably can sign up at the airport, but we'll do it in advance to save time. They also offer a credit of sorts for each day you rent toward a future rental. You do have to enter your driver's license number and credit card.

It worked great for us. Sign up before you get to the Airport. You can just walk to the garage and get your car. No waiting at the counter.

Do you have to stop at the booth in the garage or just go and get a car like Emerald Aisle? Do they have computer kiosks inside of the terminal?

I read on the Dollar website that if you don't like the car they picked for you, you can pick another one of the same class. Is this available at MCO? My kids like to pick the car....

Can you sign up for it the day before you pick up your rental?

You have to so you can use the service. You give them all the info on your driver's license and, I think, credit card info. National offers the same service through Emerald Isle.

Yes, you get a number instantly when you sign up. Just make sure to add your Express number to your reservation.

Really? I signed up 3 days ago, and got a message that I will be contacted when my application was processed or something to that affect. Still nothing. We are renting next week, so hoping I get the number before then.

Okay I just went on the site, and clicked on "forgot Dollar Express ID" and was emailed mine. Not sure why they didn't email it when they processed. Anyway, no way to add it online to my ressie unless I modify the ressie, and that gives and entirely new rate. So I called to add, they did no problem. However, he told me with Express you still have to go to the counter, it's just a separate line. Did I get someone that doesn't know what they are talking about?

I signed up this week too and was told it would take 3 days to get a number. That was Tuesday and still nothing.

We have used Dollar Express in the past at MCO, but, always had to go to counter....there were two lines....one for people who had Dollar Express and one w/o Dollar Express. How long ago did they begin the direct to garage service? We switched over to National several years ago for that reason.....so we could go directly to Emerald Aisle, pick a car and be on our way. Our last few trips we've just used ME so I really haven't kept up on what's going on with the car rentals out of MCO. However, we've become disenchanted with Disney transportation and wasting so much time getting from Point A to Point B, we're seriously considering going back to a rental car for both our August and October trips this year...so I'm interested to hear if indeed Dollar Express does have direct to garage service...it will help me compare prices between National and Dollar.

Dollar Express does indeed have direct to garage service, just follow the signs. They've had it for several years, we love it! We've used Dollar probably 80% of the time when we travel. The rest is a mix of National and Alamo.

does this mean you just go out and pick out a car or do you have to stop at a booth?

I am assuming that this is how you avoid the hassle of the sales pitch for all of the things you don't want and need? Am I wrong?

There is a booth out in the garage, but it's quick and easy. Sometimes, there are employees standing in the 'line' area with a clipboard of people that are Express, so they just show you where to get your car.

Thank you!

Dollar has 2 rental locations at the airport, one on A side and other on B side. How do you know which side your assigned car is waiting?

In Las Vegas I was assigned a Maxima (premium reserved). Car was in excellent condition. I rented from Orlando and I remember getting to select a car from the group of full size cars available (took a Malibu). Can anyone verify?

Love not standing in line at the counter and hearing the "you need insurance and prepay gas" up sell speech.

Thanks!

I rented with Hertz at MCO last fall and signed up for their "program" so I could bypass the ticket counter. But they didn't have a car waiting for me so I had to wait in line at their counter in the garage. They told me that if you don't enter your airline info in the reservation, you have to wait in line due to the A & B terminals. I think the same probably applies to Dollar.

My first dollar experience upcoming. Booked a city deal. Had to call to link my express number that took 4-5 days to be emailed to me. So now it looks like straight to car/garage.
