Expensive hanbags-please explain

If you get that bag, I would bid for sure!

A PM bidding war sound like so much fun!

What can a $1400 purse do that a $20 cant?

One of my co-workers just bought a coach. She wouldnt tell me how much it was so I know it had to been expensive :rotfl:

So I teased her about what could it do that a way less expensive purse couldnt? She just looked at me at said, "Dont you have some work you should be doing?" :rotfl:

Someone compared it with someone who likes expensive cars. There is a diff though. A 100,000 can do alot more than a 10,000 can.

Just like my Canon 40D can do more than $100.00 point n shoot.

With purses they do the same thing....hold stuff

I don't want to be a billboard. I figure if they want me to walk around with something that has their logo plastered all over it, they should be paying me.:woohoo:

That's exactly how I feel about any item that has a logo emblazoned all over it. :thumbsup2 Just not my thing.

Carrying those expensive purses, I think, is just like asking to be mugged.
I wouldn't advertise that I may have a lot of $$ in my purse.
I will rarely pay more than $20 for one.

What's the deal with 6 Flags and what people carry there? I think there are people who go there who have a Coach or LV or whatever :confused3 I don't care for 6 Flags but I am pretty sure that they will let anyone in who buys a ticket and don't consider what bag they are carrying :confused3

I am guessing that only "low class" people go to SixFlaggs, vs the high end folks who flock to WDW?;)

I could easily afford a $1k or more bag, but think paying more than $100-150 is ridiculous. no one can tell me a $1k bag is sewn better, or the leather is softer. or the design better .

In these hard economic times, there might be quite a
"backlash" against those who flaunt their wealth so openly, dont you think?.
:confused3

I have 5 Coach purses and 2 Coach briefcases....alll over 20 years old. I bought my bags when I was a VP of a global corporation, traveled all the time, was dressed up all the time, and needed purses and briefcases that could stand up to the wear. Coach, at that time, guaranteed the piece for life. I wrote them a letter along with a purse that needed to be fixed and asked them "whose life? Mine? or the leather?". They send me a gift card for $300 and a catalog as they could not repair my purse.

20 years later I am still using every one of them. The leather is still as soft as can be. I don't like the new Coach style with the "C" plastered all over everything. I took the Coach tag off the briefcases and all but one of my purses. Nobody knows but me. For as long as they have all lasted and as beautiful as they still are, I'm glad I bought them.

I just LOVE IT when I would check people out at my local Publix....they would buy 100.00 worth of food with a Food Stamp card, and have a 300.00 Bag they dug the card out of! And they would have a balance of 600-900 dollars LEFT on the food Stamp card!:confused3 I have been working for 21 years, and cannot afford ANY of those bags, and I wouldn't buy one anyway.:sad2:

Another poster said she thought the Coach bags they SOLD there might be fake.

Sorry for not clarifying. :)

:thumbsup2

I see that all the time...its sick BUT I do buy pricey handbags...I also pay my bills and dont use foodstamps.I also notice alot of those are fakes, since you would never buy one you may not be able to notice that some of them are knockoffs...I buy clothes on the 75% off rack and do not have credit card debt so I like to have a nice bag..

I just love designer bags, they last for ever!!! I have mostly vintage Coach, and one LV bag. Not to jazzed on that one. but I did just buy saturday the new Coach Sabrina! It is more like the older vintage that I loved!!!

I have gotten so many complements on it!
It is very comfy to wear, and I know I will have it for over 15 years like my others that are in mint condition!

so if you add up all the cheap bags bought over the years, you could have bought 1 coach that will last forever! I am all about the all leather ones!

and I am getting the black patent leather in the Sabrina with the gold chains this week-end!
here is my new one!!

Wait, let me get this straight. I buy an expensive bag I want to get mugged. I guess girls that wear short skirts are asking to be raped and a wife that doesn't have sex with her husband is asking to be cheated on. Please tell me you don't actually believe this nonsense. Can your sentence be anymore offensive.
I buy expensive bags because I like them and a person who mugs, rapes or robs is a criminals.
I don't give a flying flip if I walk down the street covered in $100 bills, I have the right to own nice things without being violated.
I guess since I drive a jag, I'm just asking to be carjacked because that's what I get for not buying a ford.

I just want to say that I hold the OP of this thread responsible for my new longing for an expensive bag. :(

I have never really wanted something like that before and I am sure I will not give in to the longing.... but I BLAME YOU!!! :rotfl:

I havent gone through this thread so maybe this has been brought up. My friend told me that you can rent expensive purses online. Has anyone tried this? Does it work?:confused3

That's Bag Borrow or Steal, but I think they are called Avelle now. I've never tried them, but I've been tempted to.

Actually a Jag isn't even on the Top 25 :)
