I guess I don't see the draw to them. Could someone explain this to me. I was camping last week and I saw some girls walking around with them. Why? They had them sitting on the ground or on top of the dirty picnic tables. I can't imagine spending hundreds of dollars on a bag that I know will get dirty.

I don't have a problem with people having them, it's their prerogative, but I just don't get it. Enlighten me. :rotfl:

They're like shoes only better!

I think you either have the handbag bug or you don't.
Oh and I am notorious for "saving" my bags so I wouldn't be dragging it to someplace dirty.

The definition of "expensive" depends on how much money you have.

Some people can afford a $200 bag as easily as others can afford a $20 bag. They have more money.

A person who can't afford a purse at all would call a $20 bag expensive.

It's all relative.

I buy whatever purse is cute. I get them at Wal-Mart, craft shows, and from places like Dooney & Bourke. Once in a while, I get them at Disney, too.

I'm talking hundreds, like Coach, LV and those types. I brought hubby into Coach one time (he had no clue) and I pretended I wanted this little itty bitty wallet looking thing. He looked at the price and couldn't believe it! I just started laughing.

When I see Coach purses at places like 6 flags, I assume they're fake. Maybe these were too.

Simply a matter of preference. Just like people who buy
Jaguars 100K
Manolos Blahnik shoes average price $400/pair
4 seasons hotel in Paris $700/night.

We buy coach purses because we think they are pretty. Your husband couldn't believe it, My husband ask me how many I wanted? ( I picked out 2 ;) and a key fob)

I don't want to be a billboard. I figure if they want me to walk around with something that has their logo plastered all over it, they should be paying me.:woohoo:

If you are talking about LV, Gucci, Prada it's more like thousands! My sister just got a Gucci bag and it was $1400. I don't have one that expensive, but I am a Coach lover and have several, but I only buy them at the outlet. Coach isn't in the same price league as other designer bags.

I don't get the appeal either although a month or so ago I picked up a "Hermes Birkin" at the local thrift shop for $12.00. Google that one if you think a $200.00 purse is expensive.

Go on. I'll wait.

:scared1:

p.s. My first thought is that it's fake although it's pretty dang hard to tell! :rotfl:

None of my Coach bags are the type with the logo all over it. They are just nice looking leather bags that last a really long time.

Honestly I know Hermes and if you paid 12 bucks it's fake as can be.
Anywho I love My LV's and have many. Thats what I choose to spend on.

That was pretty much what I was going to write...so I'll just agree. :goodvibes

I have to say, I don't get it either. Both my nieces (teens) have Coach bags, and I mean plural. If I were working for $8 an hour, its the last thing that I would spend my money on! My everyday bag is an LL Bean Healthy Bag. I have a tan one and a blue one. I got the blue one on sale for $29 and free shipping.

My sister is a Coach fan and she convinced me of it by the quality. I now have a Coach bag that is over 20 years old that is is remarkable shape.

I got it the cheap way, I inherited from my aunt who passed away a few years ago.

I agree, you either get it or you don't. I really don't think they're that important but understand others who do. I prefer buying quality from thrift shops, which I do a LOT. :thumbsup2

I love my expensive handbag. I can't really explain why. When I became pregnant with my son, I just got a hankering for a nice purse. I've always liked purses, so I guess a really good one, was the next logical step for me. After my son's first birthday I came into some extra money and I treated myself to a Coach bag to celebrate going back to work. Now that I know what it is to own one of these bags I'll probably stick with designer bags. This is the best made purse that I've ever owned. It's over a year old and looks just like it did the day I bought it.

I am carrying a Coach purse and believe me, I throw it EVERYWHERE. I also do not have the "handbag bug."

I am one of those women who buys one black purse and I carry it everyday, everywhere--to work, to the grocery store, to the mall, etc. It is often sitting on the floor in places, thrown on my car floor, etc. I am very hard on purses and I have to get a new "cheap" purse ($50) every 6 months or so because the handles crack, the zipper breaks, the fabric tears, the inside lining rips, etc.

So, back in Dec 2006, my DD got it in her head that I *needed* a Coach bag for Christmas. Black, of course. When I opened it I was a little put off because I know that over $200 was spent. On a PURSE for God's sakes!

But, here it is, summer of 2008, 18 months later and, guess what? I'm STILL schlepping that Coach purse around. It looks great, the inside is great. I will admit that the leather on the edge of the straps is starting to fray a bit, but I'm considering paying the shipping to send it in and have it repaired.

I honestly have to say that this purse has paid itself off in a great way. I would have been through 4 cheap purses by now and I never like any of them as much as this one.

I would also be one of those women who would have it sitting on the ground at the campground.

I will probably get another one because it really held up well and I still like it. However, I do believe that surely I must be able to get a non-branded purse that will hold up as well as the Coach. I really don't have to have the name/logo.

I was camping and a teen put her bag on the bottom of the slide. A kid came down and kicked it. She was so mad and told the boy how expensive it was. I was like, well maybe you shouldn't put it on a dirty slide. weird. I, too, don't get spending a paycheck on a bag I will get sick of in a month.

Hey, I just bought a LV for $6.00 at the same thrift shop I got the Hermes from! Got a Prada too!!
Got to love those thrift stores........ :cool1:
