Expedition Everest, Yeti is not the only problem

There's also scaffolding along the backside and a crane in position. Makes me wonder if they're going to attempt a Yeti "solution."

It's a shame that people don't notice that the effects are gone. Your ticket price reflects the build of the ride to perform at full magnitude. Then, of course, the ride is not performing at full magnitude, but your ticket price is not reflecting the adjustment. As you can see, so many people find it that is okay with them. They're just happy to be at Disney, and don't really care that the little things are missed. The rest of the people are first-time visitors anyway, so they would not notice what is missing. Those who are repeat visitors, and happened to notice what is missing and care about it, are probably in the minority. Disney knows how far they can push people. And it seems to be pretty far

Every time I ride BTMRR I note how the boulders don't move anymore in the mine shaft collapse scene.

Well, that's why they charge people $95 per day on single day tickets -- to help pay for the maintainers. Right?

Or do they charge that much so Iger can have his annual bonus...?

Well, we are a capitalist society. Every company works like that. We pay our politicians to solve problems, and they sure think of our problems while taking sun baths in Spain :scratchin

But seriously, we do pay a good amount of money to see some Disney magic, so yeah, we should definitely receive some of that. Is the magic contained in the fog machine? Who knows. I just know that theme parks require tons of money and effort in order to run smoothly. And I think Disney has done a great work doing precisely that. Is Disney perfect? Of course not. Does it work for everyone else? Sure not. I just think we take for granted too many things in regards of WDW's management.

I do admit that the Yeti's malfunction is a big letdown. I wouldn't let some fog ruin the magic for me though :confused3

In Tokyo Disney every SINGLE little effect and detail is maintained to the absolute perfection 24/7//there is not one single tiny light bulb out anywhere or a piece if popcorn on the ground and you can be sure that every detail of rides original design is up and working and if it breaks its immediately noticed and fixed….7 years to fix the Yetti? Not in Japan. No way Jose.

At least they finally took those sheets that were spray painted to look like rocks out of there. Baby steps.

I bet if any effects on the 7 Dwarfs Mine Train break they will fix them in a heart beat

Tokyo DL is impressive indeed. But so is the Japanese culture. You won't see people leaving their Mickey's bar stick behind. They'll pick their own popcorn from the floor and so on. It's true that WDW doesn't look as spotless as it used to be during its prime years, but it also seems like people are dirtier and that they think they are allowed to throw Coca-Cola bottles to Rivers of America just because they paid a pricey ticket.

And then when they do close a ride or area at the park for a refurb (mhm the hub) people get angry because little Timmy's photo in front of the castle will have a couple of construction walls on the sides, and he won't be able to ride Test Track because Disney decided that they didn't like its old theme.

I'm sure TDL is flawless. We can always try to change our culture and expect Disney to change as well and go back to what Walt always wanted for his parks. Trust me, I do wish everything worked like it's supposed to. I just don't think some mist will make my experience any better or worse, but again, that's just me. As I said before, the Yeti is a whole different story.

On another note, some effects also get removed because of complaints too. Like another poster talked about Harry Potter, well that ride used to have the most amazing mist effect right in front of a dementor that made it look like your life force was being taken, just like in the movies. Sometime during that first summer, they got enough complaints that "it was too scary for my little 4 year old Timmy who shouldn't be riding anyway" that the effect was taken out.

Yikes. This just affirms over and over my decision to avoid HP themes...

That is true! I worked at Japanese company for years. It was a great experience. If you made a mistake, no one blamed you, everyone got on board and fixed it and moved on. It was very positive. But everyone knows their work ethic! I agree that they would be fastidious about light bulbs and maintenance etc...

I know the original post is two years old... but does anyone know if the fog, the steam, and the second waterfall are back??

I believe they were working on Wednesday. As some have mentioned, the split track right before you go backwards has been removed. This is temporary as they make some adjustments and renovations to the ride. There is some construction going on on the back side of the mountain. Some are indicating that this could be the preliminary work for a possible yeti fix but I haven't heard anything of that.
