Expedition Everest, Yeti is not the only problem

The back Waterfall is working, most of the time. The pumps are getting old and tempermental. They like to shut off in the middle of the day and can't get reset till the ride shuts off for the night

I really want a working Yeti again. I'm sure if they closed the ride to fix the Yeti (even if it took 6 months), hopefully they'd fix the minor things too.

I'm not nit-picky. The ride is still fun, but the original Yeti made that ride so, so much better. If you have only seen Disco Yeti, then you just don't get it.

All I am concerned about is that the tracks that take you backwards work! Haha, if not that would really suck!:rotfl:

Wow, I really need to start paying attention!!!

Same here....out of the list of things the OP mentioned, the only thing that I had ever noticed was the bird at the top of the mountain (which BTW, is still not working as of this past January). Other than that, I hadn't noticed anything else....I guess I was too busy enjoying the ride to notice those things. Please don't take it the wrong way, I do usually notice the little things on attractions and at the parks, but I just haven't noticed a lot of the things that the OP is talking about.

The majority of what you listed is insignificant. I highly doubt Disney would concern themselves with keeping up maintenance on something as petty as a bird.

Sorry for the confusion photo if provided.
It was just to decorate the thread. :coffee:

It seems that I am of the few that give importance to Disney immersion.

Plastic bird really is not important, but the fog if it is. At least for me :flower3:

I just love EE but have never seen any of those effects operational. If I had I would love it even more.

A fog screen at the exit of the cave, now that would be amazing.

I agree with another poster who said Disney is all about the details. POTC is awesome and would be as well if they removed the fog screen there too, but then again, it's a great detail that makes Disney what it is.

Completely agree...:tinker:

I love Expedition Everest but not fixing the little things is a problem for Disney. The thing that makes them stand out as a theme park is the attention to detail. There are much bigger roller-coasters at parks around the country (and world).

The Yeti has been broken for years but they continue to use her in the advertising as if your gonna see this thing swipe the train as you ride. The current video on the Disneyworld website shows it moving!

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/animal-kingdom/attractions/expedition-everest/

I've always heard how Disney has CMs walk the ride before they open every morning to make sure there is nothing out of place and nothing broken. Yet EE has been broken in many ways as OP pointed out.

I agree they don't ruin my vacation. If the Yeti doesn't move or if the eagle doesn't fly the ride is still fun and I'll keep riding but I'm concerned that we will soon see the parks looking like DisneyQuest where things don't work and they just shut them down or take them out.

EE sort of typifies everything which has become wrong with Disney. They have lost their way. They aren't paying as much attention to the details--something which made them great to begin with--and it's depressing.

I think EE worked properly for like a day before the Yetti broke down. I don't think they've ever fixed it so it worked for more than a day at a time. Since the Yetti is THE central character (if you will) for this attraction, it's hardly a minor detail. You'd think they would get it right.

All of the other things mentioned, while they're minor, the minor details are what sets Disney apart from the competition. Anyone can go to Islands of Adventure for better rides. But, if you want a better experience, Disney has them beaten although not as badly as they have in the past--and it's not because they've gotten better at Islands of Adventure (other than the Harry Potter thing).

It's a shame really.

It seems to me that the Yeti I saw in May was a different one from the Disco Yeti I saw in Jan...I could be crazy though?! :confused3

I agree with people who are saying what separates Disney from places like Six Flags are the details. EE is a great ride without these effects, but it's better with them, and Disney should recognize the small things are what makes the difference and fix them.

This said, if it goes into refurb to fix them, I hope it happens when I'm not planning a trip ;)

Did your yeti move??

I want to say it did but it was not the original Yeti from 2007. Looked smaller and a different shade of brown. Seriously though...maybe it was just wishful thinking on my part. I wanted to ride again but we had an ADR we didn't want to be late for! :)

Now, just have Disney shut the entire attraction done for six months to fix everything and then we will hear the roar of "I can't believe they did that!"
You mean like they're doing with Test Track? ;)

...or a whole room full of them? Sing along with me... "In the tiki-tiki-tiki-tiki-tiki room, in the tiki-tiki-tiki-tiki-tiki room, all the birds sing words and the flowers croon, in the tiki-tiki-tiki-tiki-tiki room..."

Why can't they just put a new yeti in? They can imagineer anything can't they????

I don't think the yeti is the issue. I think it issue is the foundation that he's sitting on. Which I'm guessing would mean more than a 6 month fix.

Some "rumors" out there had the cost in the $1M range.
