:Pinkbounc ....AS A AP HOLDER WE GOT TO RIDE EE AT AK...AND IT WAS THE BEST RIDE EVER...SMOOTH RIDE...YOU GO UP A MOUNTAIN IN A TRAIN...LIKE THUNDR MT..BUT BIGGER CARS..TALLER IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD AREA..YOU GO UP A BIG HILL AND FIND THE YETTI..A BIG HAIRY MONSTER HAS BROKEN THE TRACK...SO YOU GO BACKWARDS ALL THE WAY DOWN AND INTO A CAVE...WHERE YOU SEE SHADOWS OF THE YETTI..AMAZING ..ON THE CAVE WALLS....THEN YOU GO AROUND THE TRACK...IT IS SO FAST AND YET SMOOTH ...WE LOVED IT...BUT AK IS ONLY OPEN TILL 5 SO ITS KINDA A WASTE TO MAKE SUCH AN EXPENSIVE RIDE ...FOR A PARK THAT CLOSES EARLY....WELL WE LOVED IT.

When does this ride open to the public? Do the backwards parts remind you of riding the Mummy at Universal? I am hoping to be a chaperone on a band trip in early April. I have to find a sitter for my four kids first! I can't wait to ride this!

sounds great -
I just made a reference to this ride -
it will be the one thing that gets me back to AK
I cant wait to see some pictures of the ride.

jojomg ~ so you rode EE today ~ I am going next Thursday and I am hoping to ride when I go. We are AP holders as well. Are they still only letting AP holders preview the ride or is it on a soft opening type thing.

tn

probably soft openings.....the ap/dvc preview was for 4 days.....26 - 29 ( unless they extended )

AP preview was only thru the 29th. Talking to a CM this weekend, there is no news of when (or if) soft openings may occur.

As for soft openings, there have been rumors that resort guests will get a chance to ride it soon. About the only thing you can do is sit outside it and wait to see if they open it for a few test runs throughout the day.

Guess I read the post wrong I thought the OP said they rode it yesterday on the AP preview. I know that the preview was last week and this past weekend.

The Yeti is very realistic, but not too scary (IMO)...You don't see it for too long which is a bit of a downer (again, IMO).

As for the backwards portion, it is much more relevent (and thrilling) than at Mummy. The physical effect created here will be the toughest part for most people, I think.

Overall a great, great ride although I think the FANTASTIC detail of the area is even greater than the ride itself.

I also rode this during the AP/DVC previews last week (on Thursday). It is a great ride...very different, well-themed, and fun.

The Yeti is awesome...huge and very well-done...although it is true you don't get to see him for very long.

I agree that the backwards section is much more intense than that in the Mummy ride at Universal. I actually rode the Mummy the day after riding EE...I had ridden it the year before but couldn't remember how long the backwards part was. EE is much more intense in this respect.

Also, I just wanted to mention that you should try riding EE sitting on both sides of the train. When my friend and I rode, I had always gone in first and sat on the right-hand side. After the first time, I said that during the backwards part, I had trouble telling what direction we were going. She did not have the same experience. The third time we rode, we happened to switch places...she said she experienced the same thing and felt that the right side of the train was more intense, especially in that section.

The only negative comment I have is that it's rather strange to hear screams from the ride echoing throughout the park...especially one like AK. In the recent advent of the evening EMH, I have really enjoyed strolling through the nearly-deserted park at night, exploring paths that don't seem as mysterious during the day, and taking in the silence and peacefulness there. I think I will sorely miss this experience once EE is opened and is running fulltime during the evening EMH.
