Expedition Everest Challenge Trekkers

Hey guys, sorry I have been out, but we had to evacuate for hurricane IKE.... We are back home and after a week we got power back yesterday. Needless to say I have not been running like I should, but being in Clear Lake Tx, with now power and little water, you don't want to run...... I hope to see you guys next week, we are also staying at AKL so I guess we'll see you in the lobby.

Dh was joking with the kids the other day as we were eating Spaghetti O's and soup that we cooked on the grill by the light of a lantern. Anyway he said you know guys after all of this I think we need a vacation.... the kids looked at him and said okay; things have been soooooo crazy they had forgotten we are leaving next week. So there is light at the end of the tunnel. See you at the race and remember, take it easy on us..
Julie

I feel your pain, we were a direct hit from Charley in '04, we had no power/ water/or a/c for almost a month. Keep stong it will get better. We went to Orlando for the 3-4 storms that followed after Charley that same year. It is a great place to escape. I hope the group I think it was called Noah's Ark will come to your town next summer, they provide a summer day camp to children who have been in a natural disaster. My dsis and I took our kids, they had a wonderful time. Good luck and keep your chin up.:thumbsup2 Dina

HELLO, FELLOW TREKKERS!!
(the YETI kind, not the spaceship kind!! :lmao: )

Oh, my goodness, what an AWESOME group we have!!! Here's my welcome to all of the newbies (I've been away for 3 months..feels like FOREVER!! ::yes:: ) :welcome:

It will be so wonderful to see old friends and meet some new ones!! Please add us to the group meeting in the AKL lobby. Thanks, blizzard, for posting the plans for NEXT WEEKEND!!! :goodvibes Anne

Anne: Welcome back....see you next weekend!

Julie: Sorry for all the trouble caused by the hurricanes.......and thankful that it wasn't worse. Keep telling yourself that next week you'll be at WDW and everything else won't seem so bad.

I just realized that AK closes at 5pm on race day which is where we will be. I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble to go back to AKL only to turn around and come back again. We'll probably just end up hanging out in the parking lot for an extra hour. Whadayathink? If we stay, then we'll be in our WISH shirts all day and just carry our bibs in a little race bag. Also need to remember to put on our chip. I hope it will be OK to wear it around AK all day long.

Looking forward to meeting everyone soon!

Julie - glad you are back. I am hoping that your house had no damage and your family is safe. I can relate to what you are feeling right now since we went through 2 storms in 2004 and Wilma in 2005 and had no power for 10-13 days each time. I know how happy your family must be to realize they have a vacation coming up - it is needed I am sure!! And you guys deserve it!!!

Ann - welcome back!!

ANNE!!!! Welcome 'home'!!!!!

It's time to start packing everyone!!!! :cool1: It is really just dawning on me that I need to make a packing list and get going on that.

With all the rain we received last weekend our park has been closed so we started going to Mom's park this Monday and while it had some flooding it proved to be a blessing. I found she has a wonderful looooong hill I can work on. I ran up it on Monday and it took till today for my quads to like me again LOL We went back last night and took a dirt 5K trail and I thought I was lost forever! It literally gave me nightmares that I was lost on it!

We're all getting excited her. Mom caught Dad watching something on TV the other day about the VA Beach Rock 'n Roll 1/2 Marathon. This should be interesting, both Dad and Ray's 1st big race.

It's almost here! It's almost here! It's almost here!!!!! :woohoo:

For those of you driving to WDW, I found an amazing website for the drive down. Check out travMatix - its free.

I can't believe its almost here! I hope my foot heals by next week!

I'm right there with you on the foot healing thing -- Mine is in a boot right now! Achilles bursitis -- Never even heard of it before, but I can tell you it's an oucher. I'll probably be wearing the boot at least part of the time at WDW -- Originally they told me to keep it on for a month (I just got it Monday) but then they backed off to maybe 3 weeks. I'm figuring 2 should be plenty -- It's just a 5K!!! (And an obstacle course, and a scavenger hunt, and a couple of days walking the parks at Disney... :rolleyes1 )

Hopefully we'll both be fine.

Hey, thanks for the web site info too. I'm going to check it out now.

Eeep! Don't hurt yourself now :scared: take it easy :rotfl:
My shins are in h-e-double hockey sticks right now :rotfl2: I think I have to stay pretty much put until next week for them to ACTUALLY heal. Ah well... whatever will be will be...

Hi everyone, we can't wait to see you!!!! We are staying at OKW, so I hope to meet up with some of you at the "corral" Quick ? for the racers with kids not running, what are you all doing with your children? See you soonn!:cool1: Dina

I am taking my MIL so she can watch the kids while we are running.

Oh guys, I forgot to mention what I did today. I was so tired and disgusted with all that has happened I called and added two days to our trip. Since we had a natural disaster Continental airlines let us change our tickets. Woo Hoo!!!!! So the kids and I will arrive on Tues:banana:
Julie

Cruella and Wendy: sending pixie dust that all your foot problems clear up before next week.

Wendy: can't wait to see you! This time I'll be racing with my "little boy"!

Agh! OK I might just break down and add Thursday to my trip or tag another day at the end.
You guys are great influence on the fitness level, but you are not helping my Disney addiction :rotfl2:

Julie- glad that you have power again. My nephew is out in Texas working on power lines. He was is Louisiana first, has been gone nearly 3 weeks so far. You all deserve a vacation.

Chocokat- go ahead and break down and do it. You know you want to... what difference will one or two (or three...) more days make!:rolleyes1

We are staying at CSR, so I guess I will see everyone at the starting line.

ANNE!!!!! So great to see you're back!!

Suitcases are down and have stuff going into them. This time next week I'll be finishing up and getting ready to head to airport!

I just got mine down out of the attic along with the fall decorations. Nothing like trying to do two task at once!!!!

I cancelled my Oct reservations for Beach Club (for the TOT race that I won't be doing) and added a night on the end of this trip - couldn't add Friday night so I added Monday night since we were planning on leaving Monday morning. I think I might book Friday night at the Maingate HOJO (we have stayed there before - cheap and decent) If that is the case then we will be going to packet pick up on Friday instead of on Saturday. Also won't have to deal with traveling on race day - even though its only a 3 hour drive its still a drive!!!

Arrgghh...(in honor of talk like a pirate day) - I just got the Friday e-mail and there are no more clues. :( I really need more help!!

I am SO excited that at this time next week I will be 1/2 hour into my drive to WDW with NO kids!!!!!!!! It's going to feel like the fastest drive ever. :cool1:

Yay! :cool1:
I think I have the clues all good and ready.
If only my running was that good :rotfl2:

I am excited!

I know how you feel....but we're all in this together and somehow we'll all get the right answers.
I'm more worried about my son having to push my big fat butt over, under and through the obstacles! I can just see his face......not a happy expression!

I know I am hoping the scavenger hunt isn't too hard - I didn't get the clues (well I got the 1st one but wasn't sure if that was what it was) Maybe they were just trying to scare us and they won't really be too hard. My DH said he would just pull me over anything I can't get over - I told him he better give me a boost and let me go over and then he can get over - there is no way I am letting him just yank me up an obstacle - I know how he is!!

Getting more excited every day!! YEAH
