Expedition Everest Challenge Trekkers

I wish I could help you with your question sailors_wife, but I don't know the answer. I just wanted to say Congratulations and God Bless You on your pregnancy!
Thanks!!!

Sailors Wife - Congrats!!! If your OB says it's ok, might want to ask Disney about being able to send just DH thru the obstacle course instead of both of you. Don't know about refunds.
That's a good idea! I'll have to wait and see what the course looks like as long as I'm given the ok to make the run... wish they would release some details about it :confused3
Congrats :cheer2:
 Thanks!!
Sailors Wife, I know that thet are looking in to making a wheelchair course, if ther do you could ask to use that one.....with me!!!!
If they can not get one done then I will not be able to do that part of the challenge, so you could join me watching everyone else!!!!!!!
As for the refund, I was booked to do the 2005 marathon and found out I was pregnant, VERY HR and no refund, but it would not hurt to ask.
Sounds like a great plan... we can cheer everyone else along... if I do get clearance I'll probably be in the back with you.. I know when I was still training I had been slowing down the past week or so and couldn't figure out why I couldn't run more then 2 minutes at a time anymore:confused3
Congrats:banana:

As for refund, Disney is very strict and you are out the money. Sorry:(

Thanks!!! That's pretty much what I thought... DH won't be happy :scared: but oh well.. at least we'll be in Disney... and we can come cheer everyone else on even if we don't run:sad2:

Okay Guys, we are "running" out of time. Is everyone prepared?
I just ran my 5k in 37min pushing our DS 4 in the jogging stroller. Oh, I must mention it is already 90 here in Houston!!! I know that's not the best time, but pushing him in the heat must slow me down a bit.:lovestruc How is everyone else doing?
Julie

Can't wait - going to be so much fun!
Not going to worry about going fast, just enjoying something new. Do wish they'd post more details about the obstacle course.

Congrats Sailors Wife and like you said if you can't do the race at least you will be in Disney!!!

I am so excited for this race to get here. I have been on a 1/2 marathon training program for the last 5 weeks (since I am 15 weeks out from a 1/2 marathon) and I have done numerous 5k's so I know I can go the distance (the time might be pretty but I know it will be with in the time limit!! LOL) I am really excited to find out more about the obstacle course but I doubt Disney will devulge that information and make it "wait to see it till it happens kind of thing" I think I am most excited to be doing this race with my DH who usually is on the sidelines of every one of my races - now if I can just get him to stay with me during the 5k instead of taking off when I start to walk for the first time!!

Just think its a month from yesterday!!

Did everyone get the email tonight? Going to be a blast!

Got the email. I'm excited (less than a month to go!) but also a little worried that the scavenger hunt will be harder than I expected. I don't get the clue at all!

A couple other things I noticed...

I guess it doesn't make much difference for us trekkers, but the email makes it sound like the party is from 8-12 when the website still says 10-12.

Also I'm wondering about the "preparatory course talk" during packet pick-up. It doesn't sound like it's required but I'm the kind of person who won't want to skip it. I just hope it doesn't take too long because I want to get in and out of WWoS as quickly as possible on Friday morning.

Anyway, can't wait for the next email!

Yes, I'm worried the scavenger hunt will be harder than I thought too! My guess is that they will give us a location (in the email clue a picture), and then we have to find it and solve the multiple choice riddle/clue. Hopefully we won't be able to progress further until we get it right (so that you don't finish and then find out all your answers are wrong).

My analysis of the clue we got is:

SPOILER!!!

The sign says "last film before safari". I think the "safari" is The Lion King movie. So the answer would be the last film before The Lion King, which is Aladdin. That's how I've interpreted it. If you don't know your Disney movies and the order they were released in though, you would have a lot of trouble with the clue.

END SPOILER

They say they will have people to help out, but as I say, I hope you have to get it right before continuing (maybe like Amazing Race, where you get the next clue after you give the person the right answer)

I'm getting pretty excited about the whole thing - it seems like it should be tons of fun. :woohoo:

Hello everybody! I am mostly a lurker at the boards, but DH and I have signed up for the race ever since the first day! We are the "Benjamins"! I know... not very witty :rotfl2:

I am not much of a runner, I am more of a swimmer, but I have been training really hard. Still I am bound to be one of the ones in the back of the pack. You can officially label me as a penguin. Any other penguins on board?

I roped two other friends into the race on their own team, can't remember their team name, but these two ladies can run! One completed the NY marathon and the other is a fitness fiend, so they'll be long gone into the horizon while we run/walk our way around the course.

We will be staying at the AKL as well.

I did get the clue on the mail yesterday and as far as I can figure it is either Lion King or Aladdin... DH and I are watching a bunch of Disney movies (in chronological order) as part of our training now :rotfl:

Forgot to say: I interpreted the clue as either the last movie before Lion King, or the last movie themed attraction before the safari I could only think as the Festival of the Lion King if you are moving the same direction as the 5K course.

oh crap. I thought a scavenger hunt was finding things not a trivia contest!!! I haven't watched a Disney movie in years! I thought I would be looking for an actual movie on the kiosk shelf! Yikes.....

I can't wait. I wasn't sure about the clue either. I will be one of the slow waddlers in the back of the pack, but at least I will be moving along!

Yay! At least I won't be all alone in the back :thumbsup2

I will be joining you in the back of the pack. I'm stepping up my training. I just realized that 1 month from right now (4 weeks) we've completed the 5k, hopefully the obstacle and working on the scavenger hunt.

Yeah!
I was a bit freaked out by the 16 min mile, but I went walking to calm myself down and clocked at 18 min mile just at walking speed, so now I am SURE I can make it. Still, today will be my actual first outside training with DH to see what kind of pacing he'll have to keep to be a good team leader and not leave me behind. :rotfl:

We can do this! :cheer2:

Yeah, the second team we are going with haven't really watched many Disney movies for a while, so they are doing some wikipedia research and studying :surfweb:

Well hopefully we will all be there to help each other. I thought Lion King because of Safari, I didn't think of "last film before . . " part.

I am sure there are CM's who will be out there to help, it is Disney after all.

I am sure we can do it!!!
I just had my first outside training yesterday, I did 5K in... one hour :sad2:
Ugh... still I ended with another half K, I have less than one month to shave some time and get used to running outside in the FL weather.

I am very lucky to have a great paved trail right outside my apt with small hills and dips and vegetation just like the AK. I can do eeet!!!:cheer2:

Hi Chocokat. I see you are from Tallahassee. We are just a few mile from there. We are in Boston, near Thomasville. We may spot one another near the rear of the race!:cheer2: We can cheer each other on!

Yup!
We'll just have to keep chipping at it.
As long as we don't give up, we can finish :yay: :cheer2:
