Expedition Everest Challenge Trekkers

I am glad I was not the only one who had a little (ok a lot of) trouble with the clue. I thought this would be easy since I was familiar with the park- :rolleyes1 I guess I was wrong. I will be a back of the packer as well.

Hi everybody! I'm getting so excited about the race. I'm going with a friend and her office - they're doing a team building thing but they're all really great so it should be fun. We're wandering around Epcot at F&W all day Saturday so I have a feeling we'll be doing more walking and laughing than running!

My only problem is that I want to get to MK for Wishes the night of the race - I wonder if I could ever make it from AK after the race to MK by 10?! Oh well, if not it's no big deal. I always have to miss the fireworls because my kids don't like them - this trip I'm alone so I was going to try to squeeze everything in!

Oh, and we have an official name now, Girls Night Out.

Yay!! I got clearance from my OB to start running again.... so after a week and a half off I'm struggling to start "running" again:lmao: (isn't it amazing that a short break completely breaks your motivation and enjoyment:confused3) I'll be in the back of the pack with the rest of you guys... way way in the back :rotfl: ... right now I've worked back up to 2.5 miles in 40 minutes.. ugh... but at least I'll be able to complete the race... darn it, i will... besides DH doesn't stand a chance at the scavenger hunt by himself :rotfl:
on a side note, my OB is also going to be in WDW same time that we will be.. how's that for picking a good Dr

Sending good training vibes to everyone over the next 3 weeks pixiedust:

A quick question, will it be ok if for some reason I can't make the 16 mile a minute requirement?
I think I can, but it is the one detail that has been stressing me out lately. :scared1:

Well, I think it says that the course is open for 1 hour. A 16 minute mile would take about 49 minutes to finish, so there seems to be an extra 11 minutes available. Also, due to the course running through the park, there really aren't any great sweeping spots. If you are close, they might as well let you finish.

Our team will be near the back too - DH hurt his back earlier this summer (pinched sciatic nerve), so he can't run very well (and doesn't want to). We'll be out there having fun! :woohoo:

Thanks!
That puts me at ease.
I think I can shave those 14 minutes from now until the race if I keep training outside, but I really want to have fun, not be dying :lmao:

Hey guys, ya'll put way.... more thought into the clue than I did. Anyway hopefully we can all just help each other out. I'm not worried about the time, I've got myself down to a 10min mile and that's pushing DS 4 33lbs in the jogging stroller. I'll be the one to rush through the race so that I have more time to analyze those clues. Lord knows I'll need it. See you all there.

Only 24 days left!

DH and I decided not to worry about run pace. We'll finish in plenty of time and just want to have fun. And yeah, going to need more time for the clues. Fortunately DH is pretty good at that kind of thing.

According the the website, here is what it says about the Scavenger Hunt

"After completing the obstacle course with their teammate the trekkers will return to Disney's Animal Kingdom® Park along the same 5K course to search for the clues inside their Expedition Passport. When they find a clue inside the park they must have that clue stamped in their Expedition Passport. Once a team has all of their clues stamped then they can return to the FINISH in the Butterfly parking lot of Disney's Animal Kingdom® Park. "

I bet we just find the places, have our book stamped and the trivia is just for fun. I am sure there will be CM's helping us along. I am not to worried - yet :teeth:

Yeah, I am so looking forward to the obstacles AND the clues!!!
Thank goodness I found this thread, I feel so much better in company already!:woohoo:

Well, I got the first clue right, but only by chance! I just got the second clue by e-mail - I'm stumped! Maybe some kind of African drink I don't know about? This race is going to be so funny!

This going to be very difficult. I really don't get their rationale for the first answer at all. The second clue has me totally baffled. I'm going to need alot of assistance if the clues are all like this!

We got the first one right but pretty much by chance, too. I agree the explanantion they gave made no sense.

Second clue - I'm clueless. Assuming need to see what's there to know. Figuring it'll be on a sign.

I can see us now gathering to figure it out by committee! :lmao:

Hmmmm so if it is a water fountain... wouldn't it be water? Now I thought of H2O.... which is HOO, and added to the thing is HONOR.
Any other guesses?

I guess I overthought the first clue :confused3

The second, I have no idea unless the N is supposed to be a T (water).

Too bad the shirts are cotton. I thought about getting one if it was tech fabric. I wouldn't wear it for the race, but maybe as a souvenir (like I need more T-shirts - I have a drawer full and only wear a few! :rotfl: )

Looks like it should be a fun event though. I'm starting on our final planning now.

I think the answer to the second clue is H2O also. That would mean the clue would be "honor."

Dh and I figured out the first clue because we realized that it is a scavenger hunt NOT a trivia contest. So the answers need to be in front of you. Once we made that realization then it was obvious.

I don't think we will do the Tshirt thing - I am not wearing cotton to run in florida in September! But I hadn't thought about uniforms so I will have to put some thought into that. Besides, our team name is Cruella loves Grumpy and they won't let us use Disney charactors.

(dh claims our team name should be: Cruella loves Grumpy but does Goofy) - ok back to Disney friendly conversation.....

Ya know, I thought about the H2O thing also but ruled it out because doesn't H2O mean 2-H(ydrogen) and 1-O(xygen)? I probably read too much into these things!

True, it is also HOH, but I decided to go the easy way since it seems like they are aiming for obvious, and so 1 H 2 O's

I'll think some more though :yay:

I just read the latest teaser email, and I honestly can't believe its September, let alone 3 weeks from the EEC.

Team Sweaty Yeti is ready to take on the Challenge. The three of us did a 5k two weeks ago, and we all finished in under 30 minutes. I am pretty excited about how far we've come since we started this whole running thing 6 months ago. Personally, I have been having some issues with my knees, and as much as I want to run with my team, I know I need to rest. It would be pretty bad to injure myself this close to the big day.

Oh, and I think I have clue #2 figured out. I read the comments on the boards in regards to the first clue, and they made me look at the clue in a different way. There were a few ways to interpret it, and each one had a different answer. Well, the second clue left less room for interpretation, and that helped. I won't spoil anything by posting my answer, since the email just went out today and some folks may not have checked it yet, but I think I understood what they were looking for on this one.

Have a great weekend!

Chris

Chris! Thats not nice! You have to list your guess here so we can all think about it. I forgot about it being HOH. I hated chemistry in high school and college. I still think h 2 o works and you fill in the blanks and spell honor. But I am going back to look at it from another angle.
