Expedition Everest Challenge Trekkers

Friday, we are spending the day at Epcot, enjoying the spirits!!!!!!:lmao: We have been to the Food & Wine on Friday before and the crowd is light compared to Sat. Anyway, I'd rather not run a 5k full of wine!! I'm up for meeting some time before the race.

Please add us to the list of folks doing the EEC...

DH and I are registered.. I think our team name is The Schiller Sherpas. A few days after I registered I mentioned it to my boss... he is really good with puns and came up with much better names, on and on for 2 days straight!

We are an unofficial team of 3 -- My other, other half, bestest friend Jill is running the race too!

Yeah! Add me to the list with Heather ;) I have no team name :( Cuz they don't have Teams of 3.

Well, in a surprising turn of events, it looks like I'll be at the inaugural EE Challenge. My oldest brother, Ken (who typically does the Goofy with me -- some of you may have met him), is taking me down for my birthday and paid for our team registration (we're "Pain and Panic" ala the Hercules Disney movie). I have no idea how I'll survive an obstacle course, as walking is about as close to being an athlete as I come! :rotfl:

It'll be a quick trip -- we're driving down Friday and driving back Sunday. Staying at the $61/night rooms at All Star Sports. (Yeah, baby!)

Hope we'll have a WISH meet sometime while we're there. I'll pack my WISH gear, for sure.

Yay! More WISHers!

What about meeting up before the race at AKL? Maybe in the lobby or at Mara? Or could meet at AK before the race near the park entrance. Just tossing out ideas.

With that news, I'm really doing the happy dance! And I LOVE the team name!

I will be with my firstborn, Adam (28). He's a little on the shy side so I pretty much have to "stumble" upon the meet. We have a dinner ressie at Yak and Yeti at 4pm, but we could meet somewhere in AK between 5 and the start.
Funny thing is, he's perfectly willing to wear one of my WISH shirts. The others wouldn't be caught dead in one....talk about who's really clueless! :lmao:

Well somehow I managed to talk DH into yet another quick trip to disney - and now I get to do the EE challenge! Woohoo!! I am currently trying to find a hotel to stay at. Probably either Caribbean Beach or a Ft Wilderness Cabin. I am trekking solo, so I will be looking for other WISHers!! Since the race starts early DH and my girls will be with me at the start and waiting for me at the finish :)

We're in  ........Syko Honeys.
Because of my wheelchair I have to start last in any race that I enter.....so a W.I.S.H'er will be the last person to cross the start line!!!!!!!!

Add me to the list! I'm doing the challenge solo.

I'm relatively new the boards. This will be my first Disney race, and my first trip back to WDW since 2002. I'm very excited!!!

For those who have done other Disney races, will they be sending out any information prior to the packet pickup? Stuff like how to get to Wide World of Sports, where spectators can watch the race... I know it's still over a month away but as I'm planning out the trip I keep thinking of all these logistical questions.

Again, I'm thinking pretty far ahead, but I'm curious whether you plan to wear your race clothes to the after party or bring a change of clothes?

They usually send an email a few weeks before with final race instructions. They will also be available online at that time. At the TofT afterparty last year most people were still in their racing clothes. There may have been some hard-core competitors that changed after the event, but everyone I saw at the back of the pack just stayed with what they had on. Once you get through the finish stalls, get something to eat/drink and get your photo taken there will probably not be a whole lot of time to party anyway.

Could some one please tell me how to put the EE logo in my sig??
Thanks.

I checked this thread last night, after going about a month without peeking, and I am feeling excited about the EEC all over again. I believe I heard that the race is at capacity, and I can't wait to hear any news about the event.

Hope everyone is getting ready for the race. The Sweaty Yetis have definitely lived up to their name this summer. We have been running anywhere from 12- 15 miles a week, and have been doing weekend bike rides too. Two of us ran a local 5k last month, and all three of us will be running one this weekend. Look out, Everest!

Hi Everyone!

I am another late joiner, but my team just registered under the wire!

My friend Andrea and I are the "Happy Mommies" and we are staying at the Poly.

I met some of you at the Minnie 5k in May and look forward to seeing/meeting everyone again in September.

Trish

FYI - for anyone who doesn't know, Lou Mongello has organized a WDW meet at 12:30pm at Flame Tree the day of the race.

My sister and I are doing the EE Challenge! We are the Sassy Sisters!

I'm kind of worried about the 16 minute mile, do I still get my medal if I don't keep up the pace?

Hi guys! DH and I have been entered in the EE Challenge since I first heard about it (and pointed out to DH that it would be good to get in one more use out of our AP's :rolleyes1 ) I've been doing a 1/2 marathon training from Marathoning for Mortals until last week when we........... found out we're PREGNANT!! :cool1: :yay: ... we've been trying for 6 years and this will be our first... well, now DH wants me to try to get our money back for the race:scared1: because one nurse (the one that confirmed the pg test results) told me it's not a good idea since it was so hard for us to get here in the first place.... I have my first OB appt today so I will know more for sure today as to what I can do or if I will be considered High Risk b/c of my endemetriosis (sp  ) but I have a feeling I will still be able to jog slowly... I haven't done anything since last week and I can't wait to get back out there and start running again....

but anyway...
the point of this message :lmao: does anyone know if (worst case) I can get a refund for medical necessity? DH is worried about the "fun" obsticle course.. which I think will be fine.. sounds like it won't be too bad... and I'll only be 10 weeks by then.. might be super tired, but I won't be huge yet, so I think I can still do it.
Would love to hear any opinions or tips you guys have for me... I won't be doing the 5k in Jan like we had planned (good thing I hadn't registered) but I have this 5k I'm signed up for and then a 10k in late Oct and I was getting ready to send in my registration for the Princess half in March (really don't think I'll be up to that since I'm due in April :lmao: )

I wish I could help you with your question sailors_wife, but I don't know the answer. I just wanted to say Congratulations and God Bless You on your pregnancy!

Sailors Wife - Congrats!!! If your OB says it's ok, might want to ask Disney about being able to send just DH thru the obstacle course instead of both of you. Don't know about refunds.

Congrats :cheer2:

Sailors Wife, I know that thet are looking in to making a wheelchair course, if ther do you could ask to use that one.....with me!!!!
If they can not get one done then I will not be able to do that part of the challenge, so you could join me watching everyone else!!!!!!!
As for the refund, I was booked to do the 2005 marathon and found out I was pregnant, VERY HR and no refund, but it would not hurt to ask.
