Expedition Everest Challenge May 5 @ 9:30 2012

Sounds like you and me might be doing the same thing. I'm going more for the adventure.

Let me know if you want to try and meet up.

Would love to! Send me an PM and we will coordinate. I bet you are still faster than me! :moped:

I'm really worried about my times. I had a long day (much like walking around the parks) and ran 3 miles tonight. I did not finish in the allotted time. Does anyone know how strict they are on the pace? :/

I'm now picturing myself trying to outrun the wagon as they chase me with a net.

When we were there last year the 16min/mile timing didn't start until the last person started over the start line. My fastest pace at home was 50 minutes but DS and I ran it 42 and change. The energy of the race will make you move faster! We were in wave 7 and DS and I finished with people in wave 3, each wave started in 5 minute increments. Oh and we were at the parks all morning the day of the race, but went back to our room for about 2 hours before the race to freshen up. If you are worried about conserving energy just make a light day of it the day of the race (Really hard to do while at Disney but you can do it)

Hi! I don't think I've met many of you, but look for me in my green WISH shirt in corral one! See you there!

I have just discovered this DISboard. Wish I had know about it sooner since there are only a few days left. Maybe next year! :goodvibes I have done a few 5ks. Mostly walking but working on my run/walk. So glad to see so many people who are also doing it that way. I have some foot problems and have not been able to get ready for this race as much as I wanted to. Did a 5k at Sea World a couple of weeks ago, got a huge blister on my right foot and barely made the last mile. Seems to happen when I run on pavement. I hope this race goes better. My two friends who were supposed to do this with me did not sign up in time so I will be solo. Reading all of your coments makes me feel better about that. Right now more worried about figuring out the clues then anything else. I live here in Orlando and it is going to be hot. But night will feel better then the daytime. Best of luck to everyone! This should be fun:hyper:

Oh my gosh. Thank you so much! This is really encouraging. Okay, I think I can do this. :)

Put moleskin on your trouble spots before you go! Unless you want to collect blisters as badges, which I know some runners do. :P

Thanks. I bought some to use and some toe socks. Hopefully that will help.

The toe socks have helped me a lot, and I've also used Body Glide on my feet where I have usually developed blisters. The combination seems to help the most. Good luck!

::yes:: I agree - we wound up running a lot more in the Tangled 5K than we ever had during training runs! Also, there are so many times you'll slow down whether you want to or not - bottlenecks on the route, picture ops, etc. - that you'll be ready and eager to go faster when the opportunity opens. :thumbsup2

I haven't met anyone here yet, either, but I'll keep an eye out for all! Have a great race.

Absolutely. Exercise-induced asthma keeps me from running straight through, though it's getting so I can do longer and longer run intervals. I really don't know that I'll ever be able to do a long race without some walk breaks, though. You'll have plenty of company!

:thumbsup2 I almost never get blisters, but I swear by Body Glide to prevent chafing and to protect the very sensitive backs of my ankles.

Is everyone at WDW by now? Am I the last one still at home?! This day can't go fast enough... :hyper:

In case anyone is still around, I have to report that I finally got in a good run last night. Better than good, actually - it was GREAT! Started out hot as blazes and I was just hoping not to pass out or puke. But it started sprinkling, and then it started a light rain, and then it poured and it felt amaaaazing - like running in cooler weather again! I thought my DS would be miserable, but he had a blast running in the rain, too, and it it totally psyched us up to take on the Yeti. :cool1:

Hooray for the good run! I'm hoping it's not going to be blazing hot Saturday night...

We don't get to Orlando until Friday night and don't get to WDW until Saturday morning, so I may be the very last. :lmao:

Great job, PrincessV!
I'm still home and not leaving until tomorrow night~
DS17 can't miss any school, his teachers are piling everything on right before finals. This is strictly an EEC weekend for us, no park time.
Counting down the hours!

Dont know if it was discussed, is anywhere here wearing a costume or doing something to theme to their team name? We are sailors and we are both wearing halloween sailor outfits, hers is a light-up skirt dress costume, mine is a dress with shorts attached instead of the standard skirt. Should be fun, I am going to pick up tomorrow after I get off work around noon, damn early morning shifts (4:30 am) following a late shift (off at 10 pm). I have not been running in over 3 weeks, but been at the gym, work has been keeping me extremely busy with testing attractions, gotta keep them open so you all could enjoy them. I am excited for this race because of the clues and costumes we are wearing. Have a fun weekend everyone.

We're still at home too. We leave first thing in the morning. I'm so excited! I'm up doing laundry and cleaning the house at the last minute, as usual. :P

No costumes for us this time. :)

Hi everyone!! I've MISSED YOU ALL! We've been SSOOO busy since arriving last Thursday. We've done MK twice, AK, Epcot, HS, Sea World, TL, DTD and outlet shopping as well as he condo pool. We are exhausted almost every day. LOL We are ready for some slower days leading up to the run now though. I'll be at packet pick up tomorrow, then out for lunch and a short evening visit to MK and on Sat it's Kona for breakfast, DTD to see a friends daughters band play but not much shopping and then a movie and quiet time inthe afternoon leading up to the race. So, even though we havn't run while we've been here we've been busy to the point of exhaustion every day so i hope we're still ok to go for the race.

so looking forward to meeting some of you. I'll plan for flame tree - out behind right?? for 11:30 or if it's closed then Nemo as an alternate.

If it's Nemo be sure to wait around for a bit in case some of us don't realize it's not available until we get there at 11:30. LOL> So excited to get a pic with all my DISboard EE5K pals that have been there for me through my training!!!!!!!!

Can't wait to see you all!!! and ride EE several times in the dark :)

Checked in online for our AM flight. Packed. Working on straightening house still. Grabbing Yeti that my girls got me after surgery. Got groceries for the kids and grandma. (Yes, they are upset that mom and dad are going to Disney!) I think we're almost set! See y'all real soon! Let's do this! Woo hooo!!!

Tried the bodyglide for my last race. Terrible blisters. Could not walk on my right foot after I took my shoe off. Had to walk on my toes. :(
Heading to packet pick up after work tomorrow. Can't wait!

Oh no! According to Google, Track Shack in Orlando carries Moving Comfort bras. I don't know how close to WDW they are (probably not), but maybe it's a starting place?

Track Shack (407) 898-1313
1104 N Mills Ave, Orlando, FL 32803

Maybe someone who lives closer might have another idea... Good luck!

There is a Fit 2 Run in the Florida Mall. That is probably the closest to DW, Track Shack sells that brand but they are more towards downtown Orlando on Mills Ave
