Expedia v. Priceline

My DH said to keep my April trip cheap -- very cheap. Reason being, we just bought a new house and our old house hasn't sold yet so we are looking at paying 2 mortgages until the old house sells. I don't have a problem with cheap since it's for Disney.

Now, I found the Sleep Inn on 192 in Kissimee through Expedia for $39/nt. The same room is also listed at Travelocity for $55/nt. Why is Expedia's rate so much better? I'm guessing that Expedia's people were simply able to negotiate a better rate?

I could get a cheaper room and closer rooms but the one thing my DH is insisting on is a hotel with interior corridors since it will just be our son and me. DH is not a Disney addict like us. Maybe he needs therapy?

Due to special deals and negotiations, one website can have a better deal than the other. It's just like the airlines. If you call up the airline directly, the rate can be higher than if you go on Expedia. Where is the Sleep Inn that you got? I got the Sleep Inn in the 9000 section of I-192 off Priceline for $20. It only had one bed, the room was small, and had no alarm clock, but it was nice and clean. Plus, you get a free Continental breakfast buffet in the lobby. You can save some $ on breakfast by filling up on pastries and muffins!

The Sleep Inn I found is at 8536 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy. It must be the same one or near to the one you were at. I booked the one bedroom deal too.

I was going to try Priceline but I'm concerned I wouldn't get something with interior corridors. Really though, I don't think $39/nt for April is a bad rate. Taxes/fees through Expedia are about $6/nt so that puts it closer to $45/nt -- plus the breakfast, not a bad deal.


I'm glad to hear you had a good experience with the hotel -- that it wasn't nasty or run down. I don't mind that it's small since we only a need a place to sleep. I will pack an alarm clock though, wouldn't want to oversleep and miss some park time!

We found a package on expedia for spring break. I held the package and checked out the resort website and found the package cheaper through them.

My friends family of 5 is driving down and staying at the summerfield suites (summerfield-orlando.com) and got a cool deal: 5 nights in a 2 bedroom suite (villa with full kitchen) and parkhopper passes for $1500. Give them a shot.

Don't settle on the Sleep Inn for those prices. In your situation, Priceline would definatly be the way to go. You should be able to get a 3* for no more than $38-40, and I believe, every 3* Priceline has in that area would be interior corridors and MUCH nicer. I just got the Rosen Center for $40/nt in July (not bad when the cheapest rate I could find was $175 on expedia, and $325 through Rosen's site).
