I posted this on the "what's your rate thread" but thought I would also start a thread.... Expedia has a buy 3 nights get the 4th free. Oddly, the garden and bay room were the same price of $127.75/nt. They also offered a deluxe pool room for $149.25/night for 4 nights. Thought this might be useful those who can't get entertainment/aaa/fan club/whatever rate! :)

What are your dates? This is a terrific deal!

Oh well :( That deal ends september 30.
Happy you got to take advantage! Have a wonderful time:)

my dates are sept 20 (FRi.) through sept 24... I didn't see where it ended on sept. 30 but I think they have this promotion quite often so maybe they will have something for the following months soon.

Expedia just released the same deal for my dates in December!!!:bounce:

I just checked Expedia's and Universal's sites. Universal's $135/nt deal is not good at the end of October, but Expedia says the fifth night is free making the average rate $135/nt. Apparently. you can get this on Expedia, but not Universal. I have the Entertainment rate at RP for $99/nt, but am now seriously thinking about switching.

The 126.00 rate IS available for my dates in December (18-24). I already have HRH booked for 125.00 a night ENT rate, but PBH would actually be cheaper because I wont need to buy the Entertainment book. Now, I can't decide where to stay. Does anybody have any opinions on which hotel they prefer and why? BTW, I have a 2 and a 4 year old. Thanks ..

Tigger Woods im in the same boat-i have HRH for ent. rate $125 but now i cant decide if i should switch to PBH because that is such a great deal-i was so excited about hard rock but now im confused-has anyone stayed at both during december -if so how do they compare as far as decorations/any activities go???

KMC = If someone told me 2 months ago I could get PBH for 126.00 a night, I would have jumped at it. But I've sort of been gearing up for the HRH. I love rock and roll, but my wife loves everything PLUSH. A couple of things to consider:
HRH: You can pay when you get there. PBH: You must pay the total in advance through Expedia. HRH: Standard rooms are 372 sq. ft. PBH: Standard rooms are 462 sq. ft. PBH has more pools, but that may not matter in December. PBH has more restaurants, but from what I've heard, some of those are closed during the winter months. I'd be interested in hearing about which hotel is better for little kids. Anyway, as you can tell, I can't make up my mind either. Hopefully, we'll hear from some of these great posters..

Tigger Woods,

Does anybody have any opinions on which hotel they prefer and why? BTW, I have a 2 and a 4 year old. Thanks ..

I can give my opinion. I'm sure you will get many different ones and in the end it comes down to personal preference.

Since your children are 2 and 4 years old it wont really matter to them, they will enjoy either. Portofino is quieter by a landslide. Its more spread out. Portofino offers 3 pools, and a kids pool play area with a ship. More choices for dining (when they are all open).Bigger standard rooms. The ambiance is a big draw to me. The staff has always made us feel special. We have stayed at both and I would stay at Hard Rock again or maybe split my stay between the two. The beds at Portofino are heavenly. The beds at Hard Rock however are also pretty darned wonderful just not to the same degree we found Portofinos. The added room space is also a huge bonus for us at Portofino.

kmc,

This is a major consideration. The price. If you told me you were getting Hard Rock for less than Portofino then yes go for Hard Rock. For the same price you are getting almost 100 square ft extra space in that room! Do you have teenagers? The atmosphere appeals to the kids (older kids) more at Hard Rock. We stayed at both in December last year. Portofino offered a few special holiday happenings that my family adored. Hard Rock was nice and we did really enjoy the stay and had we never stayed there before I would want to experience it.

Tigger Woods,

I totally understand where you are comming from. When we finally decide on a place to stay, I research the heck out of it and really start looking forward to the stay. Hard Rock is plush just not as plush as Portofino. I really dont believe you would be disapointed with either choice.

HRH: You can pay when you get there. PBH: You must pay the total in advance through Expedia. HRH: Standard rooms are 372 sq. ft. PBH: Standard rooms are 462 sq. ft. Paying when you get there? No biggie there...either way you have to pay and some might consider it a plus to have that out of the way prior to the trip. Room size...big consideration there! Pools...yes Portofino has more pools but we did like Hard Rocks pool better...the kids did anyway. The slide is cooler! Faster. Again a personal preference. BTW...we did swim in December. 2 Years ago it was 86 degrees while we were there in December. Restaurants- Depending when you will be there on/off season will depend on what is open. Even when we were there off season there was more than enough options and you also have City Walk. Both pools for children your age would be wonderful. They both offer zero entry and both have small kiddie pool areas.

How I would decide between the two if I had NEVER stayed at either...Price. Why? Because I wanted to stay at both anyway. Try one...visit the other have a meal spend some time looking around try both pools and book your next trip for the one you dint pick:) They are both great choices you cant
go wrong with either one.

Good Luck to both of you with deciding:)

wow thanks for all the info Fan2CSkr-im going with my mom(very into rock-n- roll) and my 5 year old son who's biggest like would be the pool..its really tuff to decide when i haven't been to either.i never thought of staying at PBR just because of the price and really have been looking forward to hard rock but now that they are the same price im not sure what to do--i wish they had the stay 3 night get 4th free for hard rock-i feel like i should stay at PBR for that price because i may not get that chance again and try hard rock next time-i dont know they both sound great-this is definitely a tough one

well i did it-i switched from hard rock to portofino(i just could not pass up that great rate) but will definitely try the hard rock my next visit.

I'm also in the same boat. My kids are 9,7 & 5. Right now I have reservations at HRH standard $125.00 and deluxe $155.00 (couldn't decide between them either). Now with PBH averaging out to $135.20, I don't know what to do. We've stayed at the HRH in April and really enjoyed it. Kids loved the pool. But, will they enjoy PBH just as much and what if it's not nice enough to swim? IM SO CONFUSED. Just when you think you have it all figured out, something else gets thrown at you to make you think all over again. Also, how long is walk - or do you have to wait long for boat?

I'm sure glad I'm not the only one who's confused about which hotel to pick!
I have double reservations, overlapping, one day longer than I need to secure the fan club rate, and am now considering switching to RPH because they for sure have entertainment rates available. But of the three hotels, it would be my last pick. *sigh* Decisions, decisions...Take the deal now, and forego my first choice, or pass on the deal now and take my chances. And planning a vacation is supposed to be fun, right?!

KCM- No you won't. Once you stay at PBH everything else looks like hmmmm, looks like a slice of pie instead of the whole pie. LOL You will not be sorry the place is lovely absoultley breathtaking. Lovely, lovely, lovely. Anyone who can afford these rates would be cheating themselves not to pick this deal up and run with it. Anyone worried about boats and walking. You just have to go there to understand how it all fits nicely together. You won't mind the boat ride or wait trust me and it's usually only a few minutes on the wait and the ride. It's just outstanding what they have created at PBH. The kids will love it. My triplet 2 year olds and 10 year old had a blast and I enjoyed having a nice quiet place to sit and relax that was gated at the pool! We loved the slide, the rooms, the pool, the food (mama dellas) and the service, and the balcony, and the BEDS oh my my my the BEDS!!!!!!!! Calm down anyone switching from either of the other two hotels to snag this wonderful rates your doing the RIGHT thing. JMHO guys.

What great posts. When I saw the $126 rate at PBH, I couldn't believe it. We are DVC members and were planning on driving back home to GA on the Wed. before Thanksgiving after staying at the BCV. I started thinking.....why are we going home to eat turkey when none of our family lives here anyway?! So, I booked Wed. through Sun....9 nights in Orlando, I can't wait. I told my friend so now her family is coming too. Our 4 and 5 y-o girls are best friends. We're so psyched about "cutting to the front of the line" and going to Emirils. Has anyone used the kids club at PBH? I understand that at a minimum it will be open in the evening during the holiday weekend.

I just saw that Expedia is now offering that same deal buy 3 nights get 4th free for Hard Rock Hotel.

Check your dates and see if its available!

I put in Dec 12-16 and these are the rates I got,

GardenView 134.25
PoolView 149.25
ClubRoom 209.25

Oh, well, I tried my dates: 12/30-01/02 and there weren't any rooms available.

I'm happy for you guys who did get this rate!!

Nan
