I emailed Disneyworld asking about Spaceship earth and got the expected response:

Here's what I sent:
"I recently read a news article regarding Spaceship Earth in Epcot that said the icon of the park would be gutted and a new attraction put in its place. I was greatly disappointed to read this story and hope that it is only a rumor. Spaceship Earth is one of our favorite attractions in Disneyworld, and is our favorite attraction in Epcot. We would hate to see this classic removed.
Updated, possibly; refurbished, yes. But not removed or replaced. Classic educational but fun attractions like Spaceship Earth seem to be slowly fading away to be replaced with faster and flashier attractions that aren't appropriate for the whole family. Please keep Spaceship Earth."

Their answer:
"Dear Tammi,

Thank you for contacting WALT DISNEY WORLD!

The Walt Disney World Resort is constantly working with our "Imagineers" and evaluating new ideas for further enhancing our attraction and entertainment offerings in the parks. At this time, no plans relating to your inquiry have been announced.

Thank you again for writing. We look forward to future opportunities to entertain you.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us.

Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number if applicable on all correspondence.

Thank you!

Sincerely,
(name removed)"

Unfortunately, when I've inquired about rumors in the past, I've most often been answered with "there are no plans at this time to replace X with Y" or "there are no plans at this time to do away with Z". This one, you notice, says "No plans relating to your inquiry have been announced." Reading between the lines, that makes me think they do indeed have plans for Spaceship Earth and just haven't announced them.

no plans relating to your inquiry have been announced

A classic non-denial denial. LOL, aren't they clever?

Well, what's interesting is it's not the usual "There are no plans at this time" response I've gotten to rumors in the past... it's the "no plans have been announced".
