Expected oil prices $150 a barrel by 7/4

This is just silly. If people really thought oil would be at $150 a barrel by 7/4, it would be at $150 today.

Why is everyone crapping a brick, so to speak, over news like this? You need to drive, you need gas, you'll figure out how to pay for everything. No sense in giving yourself an ulcer - do you really want the high medical expenses in the coming months, too?

I can't speak for anyone else but to me that it's a big deal paying more for stuff when my paycheck can only do so much I have squeezed it as much as I possible

It just hit $139. Give it a few days.

But if you thought it was going to be $150 on 7/4, you'd buy it ALL today at $139 and then sell on the market for $150 in 4 weeks.

I have recently read and seen on TV instances where people are finding the money needed for gas to go to work by cutting back on a meal or two for a day or by not running the AC even though the inside temps are 98 degrees or instead of taking the required 1 pill twice a day they just take one pill per day. Many others are just going to food banks because they don't even have enough for 1 meal per day.

I think the statement made is just a little insensitive towards the difficulties many American families are facing.

So now instead of seniors choosing their medication over groceries and eating dog food instead, it will be drivers choosing gasoline over even eating just dog food! :rotfl2:

I've heard it predicted to be $5.00 a gallon by the end of summer. It is only going to go up--at least until after the election. Then maybe it will slowly come down a little and the POTUS will look good already. I think this is what the fortuneteller told me anyway.

I have family members that work for our state as teachers and law enforcement. They are saying the state is getting ready for $6 a gallon by the fall.

No way, eating dog food can be too dangerous (remember China).

Our seniors have already struggle with whether to buy their meds or pay a bill in many places in this country. Now, with gas rising and their incomes limited, it really is going to be harder for them esp.
Of course, we'll pay 3.00+ for a cup of coffee or glass of wine but we whine about gasoline prices pretty quickly. And yeah, every American is affected by gas prices. :( There is no choice not like with the Starbucks etc.
It is a bit scary and but Americans have lived through much worse. We have not sacrificed during this war like we have through the others. We just don't know how even.

I don't doubt it. Our local law enforcement has already been struggling w/budget. To add this onto it will just wreak havoc. Patroling wll be so costly.

Gas prices affect everyone in many different ways. Truly we are too dependent on others for what we consume so much of.

I'm not saying they are right, but I've had 3 different people that work for the state say $6 a gallon. One trooper, one state fire marshall and a teacher.

Exactly, it is such a problem that so much of our economy is so dependent on the availability and cost of a single resource. The worst part is we already went through a crisis in the 70's, and nothing really changed that much since then.

Maybe now enough of real push for alternative sources of energy AND transportation will be available so this never causes the same problems again

That ticker at the bottom of your post says you can squeeze a little bit more....

I saw a report on the news that said gas could be 5.00 by mid July. We were supposed to drive up north for vacation this August but when I heard it I went online to check out airfare prices. Found airfare for 67.00 each way, non-stop from MCO-PHL, we bought them. At that price it was going to cost us more to drive then fly so we jumped on them.

And yet we still have people and groups with their heals dug firmly in the ground against domestic and offshore drilling, wind farms, dams, nuclear power plants, coal to oil plants, shale to oil plants, etc and the list goes on and on...

You want to point the blame finger at someone? Start there.

Next you can point the blame finger at the people who thought burning FOOD (ethanol from corn) was a great idea.
