From WDWMagic 4/16:

"With the closure of the Florida Animation group, the studios are left with a large building attached to the existing animation tour that previously held 300+ animators. This building is now being converted into providing a more extensive animation tour to park guests. It appears that more elements from the DCA version of the tour will be added, including the interactive Sorcerer's Workshop."

I suppose this is good news if true but does anyone else find just a wee bit of irony in this?!

I want the lobby from DCA

You want the lobby from DCA all to yourself?! Are you going to install it at your house and charge admission?

But seriously, from what I've heard the DCA Amimation attraction is top notch. With luck the rumored WDW attraction will be top notch as well.

p.s. the rumor mill seems to be VERY active lately. If I was the cynical type I'd guess that Eisner is leaking a lot of this stuff in an attempt to bolster his popularity with the theme park junkies. Mind you, I'd only say that IF I was the cynical type! :smooth:

"This is the desk of Bob Robertson. He was a feature animator until we fired him. Everyone say Ooooooh! Ahhhhhh! Feel free to touch his chair as you pass by."

What a tour!

Agreed. What an incredible space that is! I always thought it would make a great restaurant. Just imagine dining while surrounded by all that wonderful imagery and sound.

There are ideas floating around to clone the California Adventure exhibit's lobby, the Animator's Palette restaurant from the cruise line, and the "Experience" zones from the El Captain theater* into a "new" Florida exhibit.

It's likely that the less expensive items (the Sorcerer's Workshop and the Hollywood exhibits) will happen first. Depending on the increased merchandise sales, the others may follow.

Just don't book your hotel yet.

* - Disney is (or was) trying to build its El Captain theater on Hollywood Blvd. into a major tourist attraction – it's right across the street from Gruman's Chinese Theatre and the Hollywood/Highland complex were the Oscars are now held. They tried to do this by not only putting on little shows before the movie (everything from an organ music/light show to a character show) and by creating a "playzone" area next to the theater that had arts & crafts stuff for children, props from the movie and other themed exhibits. In general, it was pretty well done, but it has not been close to the financial boon they were expecting. By shipping off all the stuff to Florida, the film division can at least make the parks pay for all the stuff.

The Kodak Theatre is a great space for he Oscars. I thought that the Sorcerer's workshop was already installed as a part of the recent changes to the tour along with the Mushu hosted preshow. Anyone know for sure? While not as cool for me as actually seeing the animators work, the combo of the DCA attraction and the restuarant from the cruise line would be quite entertaining. I did hate when you went on the tour on the weekend or after 5pm and no animators were working.
